Guest guest
Since stem cells become any cell they want to and some of these may replace myelin, some damage may be repaired. Of course once a nerve has completely been severed there is not much hope (ask Reeve how much) for that nerve. I had a couple of questions: since the cells are distributed through the blood, and the blood brain barrier keeps unwanted cells (like viri and bacteria) out of the CNS, is the MS or other neurological disorder stem cell patient relying on having a current breach of this barrier for the stem cells to reach the CNS? Or do they pass through the barrier unhindered? Also, wouldn't it be better if the erroneous T cells were killed off first, as I believe they are in Campath-1h therapy? Is there anyone combining these two approaches (besides Dr. Freedman, who uses conventional chemo to kill the T cells and pre-harvested adult stem cells from your own body)? Then they would get replaced from the cord blood stem cells, and you might not take as long to regrow them. -Sullivan > I have contracted with BioMark to receive their stem cell treatment, > I will be receiving it in 2 weeks. i would like to clarify a few > stements you have made.
