Guest guest
I know this has been discussed many time..I just cannot find any old posts referring to a good supplement and where to find it. Anything I am finding online will say Adrenal Cortex and then you read the ingredients and it's the whole gland. Am I misunderstanding or is that ok? And what do I look for on DDI hair tests to implicate that the kids might need this too?

Thorne makes an Adrenal Cortex that is bovine source and comes in small doses (50mg). You can get that at places like www.illnessisoptional.com Allergy Research/Nutricology make a bovine source one that is a higher dose (250mg). You can get that at www.vitaminshoppe.com Isocort is an ovine source Adrenal Cortex that also contains some herbs including echinacea. Here's a place for it: http://thenaturalonline.com/ Isocort is also relatively small dose and supposedly has 2.5mg of cortisol per tablet. How much cortisol, if any, the others have is unclear and possibly varies from batch to batch. I've used all of those. I think has also used one by Enzymatic Therapy. Dosages are vague. Here's one msg: http://onibasu.com/archives/am/94414.html On the hair test you look for magnesium and calcium both either up or down and potassium and sodium both the opposite direction. Andy says a 2 " difference between the ones up and the ones down indicates an adrenal problem (although I don't see that in the book). If Mg and Ca are the " down " pair it means the adrenals are making too much adrenaline and not enough cortisol. If K and Na are the " down " pair, it means the adrenals are not making enough of cortisol or adrenaline and thyroid is low, too. See pg. 113 of HTI. W. Guest guest
Jan, We use something by Enzymatic Therapy called " Adrenergize " and get it for about $10 for 50 capsules at www.luckyvitamin.com Our local vitamin shoppe sells the same bottle for $18, so quite a savings. There shipping is only $5 and we order 6 bottles at a time, for even less money. Since a bottle of 50 doesn't even last a month, that is not too much. We give 3 capsules a day, they are 250 mgs. It is 250 mgs of adrenal cortex extract, with some other organ glandulars, like liver, etc, but no brain, which I draw the line at. We have tried several brands, but this is the one we like the best. I'm like you, I want it so say it is only the extract, as the whole cortex complex has some other things you don't want.
