Guest guest
It is my understanding that the cord blood stem cells know where to go, they go to the areas that need healing and repair, the body does not see these cells as foreign. Reeve thinks that fetal stem cells can repair his severed spinal cord, that's why he lobbied before Congress to allow research on fetal stem cells. He also thinks with extensive rehabilitative therapy the body can heal itself, that's why he can now move his toes. Also, in talking with a doctor, who has done many of the treatments, she says the cells help heal the immune system so that the T cells are produced normally by the body. I'm not a scientist, I'm only passing on what I have read and been told. I would not want to have my immune system destroyed by chemotherapy and possibly die from it when I can receive the Cord Blood Stem Cells at much less risk to me.
