I don't know if that will work. I had to " register " first, and I

had to do some (not a lot) of looking, but I found LDN:

Home > Multiple Sclerosis > ReVia (Naltrexone)

ReVia (Naltrexone)

ReVia (Naltrexone) is an opiate-receptor blocker medication that is

approved for the treatment of alcohol dependence (U.S. FDA).

Naltrexone is also used to block the effects of narcotics.

Although clinical studies are lacking, some physicians believe that

low dose Naltrexone (LDN) may be helpful for individuals with auto-

immune disorders. The theory is that LDN may stimulate the pituitary

to increase the production and release of endorphins, which helps to

regulate the immune system. The therapeutic dosage range for LDN is

from 1.75mg to 4.5mg every night. Dosages below this range are likely

to have no effect at all, and dosages above this range are likely to

block endorphins for too long a period of time and interfere with its

effectiveness. NOTE: Low dose Naltrexone needs to acquired from a

compounding pharmacy (they either grind up the 50mg tablets of

naltrexone to prepare the LDN capsules, or use naltrexone, purchased

as a powder, from a primary manufacturer).

Low Dose Naltrexone

After being on Beta-seron for 5 years, I stopped treatment as I was

only becoming clinically worse. After doing some research, I decided

to give LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone) a try. Once I convinced my

Neurologist to write me a script for it, I began the therapy that

would hopefully halt the progression of my MS. I am glad to say that

after being on LDN for the past 2 years, it has done just that !! Not

only has LDN halted the progression of my MS, but I haven't

experienced any ill side effects whatsoever. Although " Naltrexone "

was FDA approved in the 1980's in a 50mg dose, it's unlikely that it

will ever gain approval in such a low dose. LDN has been a Godsend

for me & one therapy that I wouldn't want to be without !!

Dosage: 3 mg. (diluted from 50 mg. capsule)

LDN

I started using 4.5mg of LDN from a compound pharmacy 3 weeks ago.

The first night I could move my toes and feet within 2 hours. I had

not been able to do that for some time. There was also a lessening of

urgency and frequency to urinate. I had been getting up 3-4 times to

urinate during the night. The first night I only had to get up once.

Since I started I get up only once and sometimes not at all. This is

a significant change for me.

The dosage is 4.5 mg . I selected the brand above because otherwise

it would not accept the post. I do not know the brand it was from a

compound pharmacy. It was a small capsule that looked like white

powder.

Good idea! I haven't taken it yet, so my opinion is

merely hopefulness.

BTW I can say good things for another alternative therapy:

the hope effect.

I have gained great energy, stamina, and cognitive function

from reading the good things people are saying about LDN.

I went to the Eye Clinic yesterday and heard only good things

about my vision (he said with his fingers crossed).
