Guest guest
I was not able to find a list for free, but I did go to the library and check the book out for free. So this is an idea to get the information without the cash. We ended up not needing the entire diet, but used much information from it. I do know it helped my brother immensely as a kid. He was extremely hyper, ADD, needed ritalin..but did well on this diet and needed no meds. Those chemicals really do affect them, so it might be worth a try. > > I'm thinking about trying the feingold diet with my son. Has anyone > on here tried it with any success? Guest guest
My son has been on the Feingold diet for 3 1/2 years, with great benefit. Compared to GFCF or SCD, it is an easy diet. Go to www.feingold.org. You can buy a membership, which includes diet materials and the foodlist. The foodlist tells you EXACTLY what you can and cannot eat. There is also a Feingold group. > > I'm thinking about trying the feingold diet with my son. Has anyone > on here tried it with any success? Guest guest
I just got their " Pure Facts " newsletter today, and there is a report of a child who was diagnosed as autistic and MR and who recovered on Feingold exclusively. Said " child " is now in college and doing very, very well at 26. Also listed were some new Feingold acceptable foods that are also GF. www.causeyourespecial.com or maybe org? don't remember. We do Feingold and GFCF, started them both together (I'm a masochist, apparently) so don't know which has helped more, but definately has helped a lot. ( We started it as a family, and now we don't suffer our NT child's gas... a benefit, too ... mom114425 <JLJukoski@...> wrote: My son has been on the Feingold diet for 3 1/2 years, with great benefit. Guest guest
It has a lot to do with dyes and preservatives so moving toward whole, unprocessed food will be a move toward the diet while you're looking for a list. The whole family feels better thanks to not eating all those chemicals. I really notice it now if I travel and can't avoid it. > Also, does anyone know where I can > view a list of acceptable foods I can find in the grocery store? ANd if you can afford it (it's something like $75 for the year?) the Feingold organization can really use the support. They have to do a ton of research and pestering manufacturers to give them true ingredient lists. If you can't afford it, you can always do what's less expensive anyway, which is shop around the edges of the supermarket, only eating fresh food and not buying anything in a box or can. It's a little leap to get used to it, but it's easy once you get used to it. Plus you feel so much better. Nell
Guest guest
I agree, buying the membership is the way to go. Not only do you get the official food list, but access to the " member's area " where you can chat and ask questions with the ladies who are actually doing this. I'm a newbie over there, and those ladies have helped me tremendously. If it wasn't for those ladies I would have quit on the third day, cuz of the " detoxing behaviors " . But they walked me through it. Also, I'm in DisneyWorld on vacation for two weeks. And have to say... we have been FG even with the attractions. Only cuz they helped me through it. I couldn't imagine doing FG without the membership. Just MHO
