Guest guest
Sx, challenge tests are risky and the information they provide is not all that accurate, either. Blood tests are not appropriate measures of chronic toxicity, because over time mercury and other toxins leave the bloodstream and are stored in tissue. The best measure of mercury toxicity is a DDI hair elements test. I would recommend getting yourself and your child(ren) tested at the same time, if you can afford it. Information on how to get this test is available here: http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/HOW_TO_hair_test.html Results can be posted on this list for help with interpretation, and/or you can use this book to learn how to do it yourself: http://www.noamalgam.com/hairtestbook.html This book is a great resource - I refer to it often. best wishes Rene > > Hi again, > I want to get myself tested (as if the 15 mercury fillings and toxic > kids aren't proof enough!!) which type of test is the most accurate? Guest guest
Do NOT do the challenge (Kelmer) test the high single dose is dangerous for anyone because of risk of redistribution of mercury into the brain and even more so for someone with mercury fillings still in place. It also doesn't provide much useful info. The DDI (Doctor's Data, Inc) hair elements test with counting rules applied is what you want. If your doctor will order it (most will want to use some other lab, you want DDI) fine, if not you can order it yourself (unless you live in NYS) through Direct Lab Services and they'll give you a discount if you mention this list. The blood test will be pretty useless unless she's looking for current exposure to lead, as most of the toxic metals stay in the blood only a short time before settling in the bones, brain, gut, etc. Please be aware that you'll have to have your mercury amalgam dental fillings removed by a mercury-free dentist using proper protocol before you can safely chelate. Please read the FAQs of this list so you can know if your doctor is suggesting something useless or dangerous. Guest guest
Hair testing is the safest and cheapest way to go. It will show many metals as well as other useful information and it is not invasive! > > Hi again, > I want to get myself tested (as if the 15 mercury fillings and toxic > kids aren't proof enough!!) which type of test is the most accurate? Guest guest
Ok the hair test sounds good. I'm in Ireland- any suggestions where to get one? Will I need a doctor to be involved or can I do it myself and have the results sent to me? Thanks, Sx
Guest guest
Hair Elements Test from DDI (Doctors Data, Inc). You can order it (from many places, hopefully also from Ireland) without a doctor through Direct Lab Services (DLS) and if you mention this group they'll give you a discount.
