HI,

My husband and I attended the volunteer luncheon in Phila today, sponsored by the NMSS - Greater Phila. chapter. Sue of sue FB-Eye was the keynote speaker. Her TV show is on PAX TV. She was so uplifting and funny. She became deaf at 18 mo. of age and learned to speak by going to a speech therapist. She has a hearing dog, a golden retriever. What a fascinating personality. She was humorous, and in her presentation you cold sense she was a strong Christian. She was DX at the age of 50 with MS and is now having trouble with her eyes. She said if she loses her sight, that is her link to the world, as she reads lips really well. She helped the FBI catch the bad guys! (That is what she said.)

I spoke with her briefly after the program and purchased her book, Silent Night, which by the way, she sang for us. It wasn't the tune we all know, but you could recognize it. I gave her the web site for low dose naltrexone. Please pray for her, that her eyes will not get any worse. If her eyes go, she will be completely lost. She has a tremendous message for anyone with a disability. She reminds me of a modern day Helen Keller. She was a skating champion at the age of 7 and is also an accomplished pianist. Amazing! - and what alovely lady!

But what I also want to tell you is we attended the workshop on Research. - a panel of about 9 doctors. After their presentations - nothing was new - they had a question and answer period. I asked the panel if they knew about naltrexone, and explained what it was and how it reacted in the body with the release of endorphins. I also told them that 2000 people are taking it with favorable results. Two doctors answered - the first one said if was a placebo effect because the rumor is that it helps - the second one said it certainly should be researched. So there you have it !

After the meeting, a gentleman came up to me and thanked me for asking that question. It so happens his wife has been on it for 2 years as well as the Calcium EAP from Germany that I am taking. Since being on it, she has not had an exacerbation. I handed out a few papers to people with the web site on it. I would have liked to stand at the door and give one to everyone but my husband would have been embarrassed, I'm afraid. He said next year I should have my own booth. I don't think they would allow that! LOL

At any rate, it was a profitable day - we picked up about 26 pens (now we just have to keep our puppy from eating them) and we had a free lunch.(well, $5.00 for parking.)

It felt good sharing the news with people who could be helped by it.
