sorry to hear of your upcomming surgery stacey. i hope all goes well. sorry

you aren't closer or i'd help you get some things done. i know how you feel.

my son had his knee operated on last summer and 10 days later i had my first

foot surgery. so then we were both hobbling and neither one of us could

drive. my mom or mil would drive 30 miles to take us to dr, store, take back

movies. more gauze!!! plus my son was in a brace from his hip to his ankle.

so he took up the whole back seat. we had to order him a van/cab to take him

to school as the bus stop was too far to crutch and too hard to manuver. my

son is 6'4 size 15 shoe 250lb!! i had the brace up to my knee. we'd both

crutch the dog down the street. people looked at us like we had been in a car

accident. i guess i am trying to say you ask for help and people will help

you. my one girlfriend had been talking with a guy she had met from a paper.

he came over and took care of her after surgery, and they just celebrated

their 3rd wedding anninversary~!!~ good luck kathy in il

Stacey,

I am sorry that the news was not better for you, but at least you have some

answers and a solution for the problem. I have also heard that this type of

surgery is very successful.

Please let us know when a date is scheduled and try not to overdo, it may

just make the problem worse. I am the same way, though.......if my house

isn't just right, I go crazy!

Try to have a good weekend, even though this surgery will be on your mind.

Gentle, tender, angel hugs,

Debs in FL

Stacey,

Good thing that the neurologist didn't make you wait long to see him.

I'm glad that you and he feel so optimistic about the surgery.

Will he allow you to continue your meds?

Please let the house go or break down and ask someone to give you

some help. I do know what you are talking about, but, don't hurt

yourself further by cleaning.

The best of luck to you! We'll be praying for you. Please be sure to

let us know the date.

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for the encouragement. I had to giggle from the mental pics that I

got from your story. I'm still not very good at asking for help, but I'm

better than I used to be. I always feel that I'm imposing of someone, or

that I will owe them something. Its something that I need to work on. I get

discouraged because since the " fabulous " millenium, it has been one sickness

or procedure after another. I keep saying " I'll be much better after I get

this taken care of. " Then some other issue or problem comes up. I'm having

a hard time adjusting to life with RA. I hate not having a daily routine to

depend on. I guess I'll just keep trying to get it together.

Warm thoughts

Thanks for the kind words Debs,

I'm trying to keep it to a minimum right now. I have decided to do one major

chore each day if possible. Yes, I am happy that this problem has a solution

with a good success rate. I am really depending on this one. I hope I won't

be disappointed though. Oh well, this is the life we lead. It warms my

heart to know that the wonderful people in this group are here for me and

really care.

Hi ,

The neuro is going to talk to my rheumy about the meds so he hasn't let me

know about that yet. I expected a call on Friday, but it didn't come. As

soon as I find anything out, I will let you know. Thanks for the tips on the

cleaning. I'm trying to keep it to only the necessaries. Wyatt is trying to

cooperate also. He is trying very hard to understand the situation, but,

being only 6, it is hard sometimes. But he's pretty good at it.

I would welcome a 20-50 lb.loss in weight. Seems that with every bad spell I

have I gain another 10 lbs. or more. I think I just compensate food for the

inability to work in my garage when I have one of these spells. I guess I

need to harness the energy I put into cooking into an exercise program my

legs and now even my hands at times. So anyone out there that has an instant

weight loss program, LOL let me know. Ha Ha. As if there is an instant cure

for weight gain really don't want to use another drug of any sort I take

enough for this little problem. I take 240mg of Oxycontin,

quinine, elavil, anaprox so you see I really don't need another drug just an

instant cure Ha Ha don't we all for one thing or another.

  • 1 year later...

Had my first Neuro visit since starting LDN. I don't know what I expected to hear but I heard NOTHING! She tested my walking speed , finger /eye. leg streghth bla bla....Asked if I have had any attacks since starting LDN and continued to write. I know I have improved since stopping the Rebif and starting LDN. I asked her opinion and she said"I cannot believe this will help you" Duh...........it already has! She will not prescribe an MRI and wants to see me in 6 months so we can talk. She was the lead investigator for Rebif so what was she supposed to say? All I know is that I have not felt this good in over a year! I started LDN on the 4th of July so its almost 4 months to the day. It was also the first of the last 3 summers I did not get worse.Just had to write and share. Will be making a follow up with Dr. B soon.

Good morning, Kiki:

Your neuro's reaction was not surprising to me. I've come to the conclusion that "specialist" means "closed mind with totally tunnel vision" and the more specialized the more so. And, also, don't let the visual facts interfere with a preconceived opinion.

Be sure to let all of us know how your follow-up with Dr. Bihari goes.
