Guest guest
Dear , 's viral test (done here in Spain) and medical history (roseolla+vaccines) seemed to indicate that antiviral therapy could indeed be the way to go. Under the supervision of Dr. Usman we started Valtrex (dose: full dose was 250 three times a day). She thought that we could try Valtrex for 3 months, but after seven weeks we had enough. This is a post of our journal that describes what was going on at the time: " I really don't know what to think. has uncontrollable visual stims, his hands are in constant movement. There are tones of vocalizations that I also believe are stims. He has no acknowledged his cousins for two days. We are in 3rd week of Valtrex and looks really sick. We started with a runny nose, a cold developed and had a huge appetite. The ear infection followed and was a little bit more agressive. Now, week number 3, has had watery eyes, with a distarch and redness in the white part of his eyes. It does not seem to bother him, but it is bothering me. He has puffy, purple/grey under his eyes. He looks really sick. is also very spaced out these days. I think that this has increased over the course of Valtrex. He is also quite emotional. I have read a few messages on the Valtrex message board where people report the physical symptons and they all seem to be very similar to 's. However, they are also reporting gains, and I am not having any gains to report. A couple of days ago, had a great morning with him where paid attention to kids. Unfortunately, this has not happened with his cousins so we are not sustaining the gain, in my opinion. There are no changes in language or eye contact or play. " was sick for the entire time we did Valtrex. Valtrex brought verbal and visual stims, physical sickness, OCD behavior and the worst reports from therapy/school ever to the point that the developmental psychologist called me for a meeting. It was the first time I saw rocked himself, while humming and lost in space. In theory, he should have been a responder, the experience brought a major regression that has taken months to recover from. We will revisit the possibility of a viral protocol for him in the future, but doubt that Valtrex would be part of it as it was clear to us that this drug is definitely not for him (glad though that brought recovery to others). I'm not sure if I have answered your question. Let me know if I need to clarify anything any further. > > > > I just dont get it. What am I missing? Guest guest
Oh : I dont know what to say. I feel so badly for you...and at the same time sick to my stomach. The regression your son experienced is very similar to our son's regression. My husband and I just cried last night together for the first time. We didnt even cry at his initial diagnosis. My husband thought the biomed route would make our son normal. He had such high hopes. Now, its as if we didnt do any biomed ever. 18 months erased. And the regression you described is what we are seeing...visual stims constantly, verbal stims, scripting, HUGE OCD issues like I've never seen before ever...obsessing on specific things, repeating phrases over and over, always turning off the tv and uncontrollable anger, frustration and tantrums that he NEVER had before. For us, we only used virastop and OLE. And, both very minimal. I wonder what would have happened if we used valtrex. I hope things are going better for you now. Did you ever get back to baseline, where things were before you used valtrex? I wonder if we will ever get back to where we started. I will be praying for you and your family when I pray for ours. It just doesnt make any sense.... Thanks for sharing, I know how hard it must be to re-live that story. God Bless Kim > > > > > > I just dont get it. What am I missing? Guest guest
Hi - We did not do either Valrex or Virastop. We did homepathic remedies for viruses. I just wanted to say to you that we had the exact same experience. This happened to us 2x. First we started the homeopathy soon into biomed. And both kids were totally disregulated for about 5 or 6 weeks. THen, after about a year on them wiht the kids doing well, we switched merks of teh remedies. The doctor di dnot tell me that the new ones were much stronger. We had a HUGE regression that lasted for onver a month. We lost all gains that we had gotten the two years prior. IT was extremely scary, as I didn't link it to the homeopathic remedies right away, since we had only switched makers. It was only after about a month that the doctor finally admitted the rememdies were stronger and coudl have caused it. In fact, he siad, most regress for about a 30- 45 day period on anti-virals if it is a problem for you. I just wanted to mention that my kids came out of this regression better than prior to the treatment. And, after retesting their titers, it is clear that they have come down quite a bit. In reading about Valtrex and antivirals, it seems like regression is often part of the package. (I know this a bad forum to say that, but I think viral issues are a different animal than chelation.) My kids titers are still higher tham our doc would like. And, they tested positive for both CMV and HHV6. So, we are contemplating hitting this again. We are thinking about using Valtrex. I would be interested in hearing if others are ultimately getting good results with Valtrex - any reports either way. Ruth > > > > > > > > I just dont get it. What am I missing? Guest guest
Thank you Ruth for sharing this story, it is good to know that perhaps our son will also come out of this regression, eventually. You are right about regression and antivirals, which ever protocol you use...it is inevitable. I have been reading the Body Ecology Diet as I am making coconut kefir now. THey primarily started to control yeast, however, their products also address viral issues. They wrote that at some point, we must address the viral issues in our kids, that they are there! And, that our kids autistic symptoms WILL get worse before it gets better. I keep telling myself that....and that is what we are going through, and things will get better. Like I said previously, I just hope for what he had going into this mess. Thanks again....it helps more than you know! Kim > > > > > > > > > > I just dont get it. What am I missing? Guest guest
Sorry, I'm not Kim, but if you join this group and look in their files, you'll find good instructions on how to make young coconut kefir. beginnerBEDROK/?yguid=198943229 Kim may have other tips, though.
