Guest guest
Hey guys, This question is for anyone who can help. I have a friend and co-worker who has a brother who has hepatitis C. He has no health insurance and has recently just obtained Social Security benefits. (First check to come soon). He was told that it would take 2 years to obtain Medicare. He has now been hospitalized and has been told that the Interferon that they had been giving him has damaged his remaining liver function and the only hope for him is a transplant. MCV Hospital does 2 free liver transplants a year and the waiting list the family has been told is now at 700. Am I dreaming or did I hear someone say somewhere if you were listed for a transplant you automatically received Medicare benefits and the 2 year waiting period was waved? Can someone help? List a web site or something. His family is very upset as you can imagine and he is very depressed. I would love to be able to give them some type of good news right now. Thanks. Guest guest
, Here is one site you might look at. As far as the Medicare yes you have to wait for 2 years they told me it doesn't matter how sick you are even close to death you still have to wait. But he may qualify fore Medicaid at least it is a start. Good luck. I myself wonder about the system and they how they even function they make me so mad that last year I had a case worker who deliberately made me jump through hoops I got so upset I yelled at them so bad, so in the end these lazy case workers gave me a full year of foodstamps at 10.00 a month, then start another year they start all over again even if I get a raise they knock me back to 10.00 and to top that all off I can't even get food from a foodbank or a church. I am very sick and spend much of my time in the hospital, there is no excuse for this hassle. Guest guest
, there is a wonderful Liver group at Delphi. You have to join delphi (free) and then just go to the sites that talk about HepC. I go there often. They were able to help me with the liver questions. A few people ther have HepC AND AIH, so I hang out there occasionally. Here are the sites http://forums.delphiforums.com/hepc/start http://forums.delphiforums.com/hepcforum1/start These are two that I like a lot. There is lots of information here that you might be able to help find for him. debby [ ] RE: Need help for a friend Hey guys,This question is for anyone who can help. Guest guest
I found it got harder and harder towards the end of treatment regarding the fatigue. I had pretty well acclimated myself to the rest of it. It took me a couple of weeks to maybe a month at the most to start feeling back to "normal" again. Hair loss is common, some lose more than others, it DOES GROW BACK! My hair thinned, but not to the point of bald spots. The way I knew it was coming back is my head started itching like crazy. (just like my beard does when I'm first growing it). Your friend is lucky to have a good friend like you helping her to cope with it. -dz- > I am new to the group becuse I have a friend going through this right now...and am looking for info to help her too. She has taken her 18th shot and counting down to the 6 more left. she did really well with them the first part but I have seen her having a harder time each week she takes the shots...she is still working every day ...and then takes her shots friday night and is basically in bed al weekend and okay to go to work monday again.... the shots leave bruises for up to 4 weeks....is this common? She is tired al the time and often has a nap after work or is in bed at 7-8 pm.. no life basically. She has been REALLY positive thoughout and I am always amazed at her. She is also struggling with depression but the dcotor won't give her another drug in her system...also her hair is falling out in handfuls these last 3 weeks is that common too? Her blood counts have been good through out. Also as she counts down to the last treatmen we wonder how long it takes to feel NORMAL again? after. I really appreciate help with these questions and all teh best to you all struggling with this.. it is horrible.. I pray you have good support and loved ones to help you. janice
Guest guest
A friend sent me this e-mail today regarding their adopted one month old baby. She has 3 other children (18 months, 6 years old and 8), all adopted from different families. Here's the scoop: Their one month old baby's birthmom didn't have any prenatal care, and at his birth, she tested positive for Hepatitis B. We later learned that he received the Hep B vaccine and the Hep B Immune Globulin at birth which supposedly will reduce his chances of having chronic Hep B from 90% down to about 5%. So, now the Department of Health is involved, and they will monitor him for at least the next year. We have to take him to a ped tomorrow, and supposedly he'll need another Hep B vaccine at one month (next week) and the last one at six months. In addition, they are saying that all of the rest of us need to be immunized. I'll know more after seeing the doctor tomorrow, of course, but I'm nervous that the health department is involved, and I'm feeling like they're going to force all of us (including her autistic 6 year old) to get the vaccine. Her husband talked with someone from the health department this morning, and the guy kept telling him that there's no mercury in any of the vaccines anymore, and that they're safe and won't have any effect on an autistic kid, etc., etc., etc. She wants to know what to do? Most Hep B vaccines are mercury-free but they have tremendous side effects and dangerous for an autistic kid. If there was a great concern, wouldn't they have demanded the whole family be vaccinated before they could bring the baby home. The baby has been living with them for a month already. Does anyone know any facts, have websites or anything else that can help my friend? Thanks so much. Kathy
Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I hope you find the answers you need to support the family. My daughter had her first Hep B vaccine in March this year (I live in Australia). It did contain mercury, aluminium hydroxide and the rest of the junk they put in them. Cutting a long story short we have had big issues ever since. She got chronic fatigue within 12 hours, severe headache lasting weeks, major body pains, still has major digestive problems that we are addressing diet/supplement wise, and yet to do non-dietary chelation methods. If they have adopted the child, the family SHOULD have some rights (or not ??). The worst case scenario is to have that child immunised but not the rest of the family. Next best option that I can think of is to go to: www.evenbetternow.com and buy LOTS of the " biochelat " product. Use it prior to and long after the immunisation/s, so it will at least get rid of the heavy metals and junk in the vaccines. They also have clay baths, but you have to use lots of additional supplementary support since the clays can draw out good and bad things from the body. Then go to the Donna Gates site and learn about the fermented green coconut juice. Start using this on the baby (or everyone if you all have to be vaccinated) BEFORE and long after the vaccs. You can listen to Donna gates on the site: http://www.autismmedia.org/media7.html If this doesn't load straight away, go into the base site, click on videos and find the one (I think it's called nutritional interventions) - is #7. Delay the vaccination/s until you have everything at home to deal with the consequences of the procedures. Wish I knew all this in March. Now have lots to deal with, but the good thing is the whole family is being cleaned up from the toxicities prior to that fateful event. Best wishes na Australia In , " Kathy " <cksilverman@...> wrote: > > A friend sent me this e-mail today regarding their adopted one month old > baby.
