We’ve done the challenges and they wipe my kid out. Ask the Dr. if you can

do a 12 or 24 hour collection doing the regular dosing, which will give you

a better idea of what is going on normally anyway.

[ ] DAN Rxd 500mg of Chemet for one dose, collect

urine for 4-6 hours

Son (7yo, 60lb) -- DAN asked me to collect urine the morning following

the 5th round of TD DMSA. Well my son still pees at night, so the

doctor's office didn't want to use the urine sample because he had

peed the nightly urine in his pullup. So, they prescribed him 500mg

(5 100mg pills) to take all at once and then collect urine for 4-6

hours.

Ok, this challenge stuff scares me. Could I just collect his urine

for a few hours after doing his next 3-day round of TD DMSA and that

be the same? Or, will it not show " enough " mercury to satisfy the doc?

Thanks.

You're right not to do a challenge, they're dangerous. What did your son's hair

test show? Are you seeing positives behavior and skill-wise?

That seems like silly reasoning from this doctor.

I have done urine toxic metals tests for TD-DMSA with my son under

these same circumstances (pees at night). We took a sample AFTER the

first morning application of TD-DSMA on the 3rd day. Does that make

sense? So, on the 3rd day of the round I put the normal dose of TD-

DMSA on at about 7 AM and collected urine a few hours later.

It showed mercury in the yellow.

Not all of our urine toxic metals tests have been that successful, but

I wanted to pass along that it is possible!

A random urine test is just a snapshot in time. Please tell this

doctor to also gauge the success of DMSA by the improvements in the

child. Only this one DDI test I mentioned has shown mercury coming

out from my son, but he has continued to move towards 'typical' by

leaps and bounds.

A challenge test will tell you little, and carries a risk of

redistribution and regression. Not a good trade-off. You *know* the

toxins are in there... now help your doc understand you wish to safely

remove them!

Ah, I wish you luck. Why don't you offer to try it like we did (Dr.

Usman advised us to collect this first morning urine) and see what

comes out.

FIVE HUNDRED MILLIGRAMS! I hope you don't mean oral dmsa.

Gosh I am a 165 pound adult and 12 mg makes me feel ill. No one

should ever take that amount at once. I wouldn't even give him the

100mg pills...this is too high and you will get redistribution with

challenge testing. And to prove what? We have done 10 rounds of dmsa

with no testing and my son who seemed PDD before chelation now seems

only sensory and mostly normal. I know doc's insist on test to prove

everything but this is at a risk to your child. I like Pam's

suggestion. Do the urine but on his regular round with his safe

regular dose. Dmsa should not be given as a one time dose. You will

free up metals and there is no dmsa from subsequent doses to bind it

and remove. It can then repoison your child. Actually, the dmsa

might not show any mercury at all anyway. You may see a lot of other

metals. Many people have reported that mercury did not show until

many rounds of dmsa had been done, and ala had been added. Mercury

is very often excreted in stool anyway. I don't mean to sound so

harsh, I just hate to see your boy get sicker and for not much of a

good reason.

Sorry I hadn't replied back. The website kept giving error that I

needed to allow cookies, but nothing was blocked.

Do you remember the mg that you gave them?

Thanks.

Thanks Pam, I will suggest that. After 5 rounds of TD DMSA, as a

negative, my son is walking on his toes. Something he's never done.

Jan, the CVS bottle says " CHEMET 100mg CAPSULE " and the directions

say " Take 5 capsules on empty bladder collect urine 4-6 hours

later " . His Hopewell, TD DMSA says DMSA 100mg/ml, which I give 1/2

ml every 3-4 hours. We will be using Lee Silsby after this TD DMSA

is used up.

This is the 5th round and he is showing no reaction to the TD DMSA.

He does his regular routine and never seems to be bothered by the

chelation.

My son did this when yeast was a problem. DMSA will stir up the

yeast pretty good. I also notice that some thing come on following a

round and disappear with the next round.

This can mean yeast overgrowth, because sometimes yeast causes toe

walking. Try increasing your yeast protocol, see if that helps.
