Guest guest
so, now im real confused. some months ago, my son (aka, tough nut) took the neurotransmitter test. the results showed he was high in some of the excitotoxins. also, his dan doc expl that my son's glutamine levels are elevated; glutamine in the body is converted to glutaMATE. glutaMATE is an excitatory brain chemical and can cause premature cellular inflammation. when glutaMATE goes too high, it should be converted into GABA. the test showed that my son's body is not converting enough glutaMATE to GABA. most is staying as glutaMATE causing excitotoxicity in the brain. in my son, glutamine is basically becomming trapped at the level of glutaMATE. my son was prescribed " namenda " which is a glutaMATE receptor anatagonist and used to block excess glutaMATE. the med didnt do well with my son. anyway, larry, is it possible to get a more detailed explanation on the glutamine/ glutaMATE connection? tx! vicki Mommy Boy <mommy.boy@...> wrote: Hi, Very interesting. I wonder how the transformation occurs between glutamine, glutamate and glutamic acid that can reflect in urine and blood tests. Anyone knows? So glutamine is not an excitotoxin? Are glutamate and glutamic acid excitory toxins?
