Re: Need Expertise

Hello: I have several big kombuchas in the freezer. is there anything

special I have to do to reconstitute them? It is possible, isn't it?

(just hoping here). thanks for any help I get. I tried it with one

but the tea tasted a little strange and I didn't dare to drink much of

it. thought I had better ask the experts before trying it again.

Ruth,

I live 20 minutes from Denison, Texas. Right on the Red River just East of Lake Texoma. Where are you moving to?

I do not know of any support groups in this area.

Dear All,

WOW, you guys must have ALL had extremely understanding surgeons to have not remembered much for the first few days. I remember WAY too much, even from this last surgery 2 yrs ago. Like being in ICU without anything NEAR adequate pain relief, to the point that my pulse went up to 170, & having an ICU nurse actually get in my face & literally scream at me b/c I couldn't do Lamaze breathing. He came in & asked if I had kids, I said yes. He asked if I knew what Lamaze was & I replied that it is a worthless breathing technique invented by a MALE doctor for women in labor so that they wouldn't annoy the men by screaming. He didn't like my response, but I was SOOOOO past any kind of breathing technique. I'd been left lying there for several hours in severe pain b/c I was undermedicated as my surgeon just didn't "get" how opiod tolerant I was at the time. AND I addressed the issue well before my surgery & was promised that they wouldn't leave me lying there suffering, that this surgery would be different. Big fat lie!!! I even asked to have my pain management doc to handle my postop pain & they wouldn't call him.

As for the screaming nurse, I threatened to get out of bed & literally throw him out if they didn't get him out immediately. I am an RN myself & have NEVER spoken to a patient like that. I don't care if I thought they were hysterical or not. And to beat it all, I couldn't report his sorry butt b/c the nurses have only their first names on their tags now, & if you mention a name, you are asked, "which one"?

I would have to be MUCH worse off than I am now to sign up for any more of that nonsense. Which is why I have so many questions. Colorado wouldn't be much farther than anywhere else I've been looking for help. So I appreciate the info.

Blessings,

Carla Kay

Carla Kay,

I find your story very disturbing. And I'm afraid it's not a very unusual one. If I had been asked which nurse "Claude" I was reporting, I would answer, "the one that was yelling in my face as I lay in agony in ICU at 10 PM on Sunday!" That's a crock. Of course they know which "" or "Gustav" was working a particular unit at a particular time. They're just counting on ICU patients being to out-of-it to identify them.

I guess that's why having a top-rate hospital is as important as having a top-notch surgeon. I've held out a long time too, because such extensive surgery is always a scary thing. I hope your next hospital experience is a huge relief, rather than a trauma!

Wow! that sucks big time!

I'll have to remember to make sure that my husband has all my doctor

contacts ready for when I can't argue.

Is there a way to find out ahead of time, who and how to contact in

case you have a complaint? The hospitals always give you a ton in

information at check in. Most of it is useless.

I had a problem with nurses when my daughter was in the hospital. I

complained so loudly and frequently that the nursing director called

me. When I started naming names (first names), she said that she

understood exactly who I was talking about. I started taking notes on

nurses after that. Just in case.

I hope you don't have to go through that again.
