Guest guest
Hi. Good luck with the surgery. I can't tell exactly what your surgeon did, but I had a lateral release in 1995 that was very successful (the pain had come from a tight IT band), but revealed cracking on the underside of the kneecap which, now, 7 years later, is chondromalacia. Anyway, back to the surgery. It had taken so long for me to find an ortho surgeon who would take me seriously (I was 50 and female) that by the time I had surgery my quads were weak and in the case of the vastus lateralis, atrophied, so it took me a year to recover, get back to normal, etc. But then I was GREAT! I could climb mountains again (my sport), hike, rock climb, even run (and I'd never run before). But in 1998 I got a desk job and sitting all day with my knees bent caused new ITBFS, and then a couple of years later they changed my job duties so I had to crawl under desks to get serial numbers. I told them I was too old for that & it hurt my knees but they wouldn't change my duties They're now facing a Worker's Comp claim because I now realize that all that kneeling and getting up and down, not knowing that I was shredding my meniscii and my kneecaps, is what's given me chondromalacia and wrecked my meniscii. So (the point here is), it might take a while for you to recover just from the trauma of surgery, but give it a chance. Whatever he cut in there might loosen the pull on your kneecap and relieve your chondromalacia. I just had 3 Synvisc injections. Will report on those in a different post. Ann help!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi, its roxy again. Well I had my athroscopy. What a joke! The doc says he removed some crap and made a few cuts here and there but I can't have a recon or replacement yet! I am sooooooooo frustrated. Apartley I'm on grade 1 and he doesnt understand why I'm in so much pain. Has anyone else been through this b4? I really dont understand what is happening to me. After 2 weeks when my knees have recovered from the op I will have a better idea where things stand but until then who knows. I would really love to hear from anyone who understands or has any advice. PLEASE if anyone had anything or just wants to chat, email me. Until then, Stay happy. Roxy! Guest guest
Lucky you. they wont do a latteral release on me. They dont think it would help. The op was ok but I'm still in a lot of pain unfortunatly. The doc made a few cuts and took some rubbish out but it hasnt made much difference. IF anything they are worse. Its been a rough road. I'm glad to hear that you are mt climbing again. Go for it. Live life while you can. Unfortunatley I have been getting pretty down latley. It is so frustrating. I am getting help though so I'm trying to stay positive. Good Luck with the Mt climbing. Have fun! > Hi. Good luck with the surgery. Guest guest
They could be right about not doing the lateral release. If the lateral tension on the kneecap is released too much, or if you didn't have lateral maltracking to start with, a lateral release could give you medial subluxation, and that's much more serious than lateral (or so I read back in 1995). No, I'm not mtn. climbing again. I WAS after the release, but now the chondromalacia/meniscal damage has crippled me. I'm frustrated too. Yesterday I tried 15 min. on a semirecumbent exercycle. Today I'm really hurting in my knees (and hip, even though there was no pressure at all on my hip). Ann help!!!!!!!!!!!! > > > Hi, its roxy again. Well I had my athroscopy. What a joke! Guest guest
Sounds as if an LDN holiday may be in order. This is a couple of days of no LDN at all to alleviate tachyphylaxis, or as some call it accommodation, which means your body is too used to taking it, and it has lost some effectiveness. On an LDN holiday there is no problem from withdrawal and it should not affect immune balance or bring on any other symptoms, other than a somewhat sounder sleep with less waking up from dreams if that is what usually happens. The object is that when the LDN holiday ends it has regained its effectiveness. I have found this to be the case with several drugs. Never tried it with interferon but I probably should have. -Sullivan --- In low dose naltrexone , " Bren " <TwisterAlley2@w...> wrote: > --- In low dose naltrexone , " ant0069 " <Ant069@h...> wrote: > > Hello, I'm new to the group but I've been taking LDN at 4.5 mg for > > close to a couple of years for my RRMS.
