Guest guest
Thought some of you might be interested in the following. One of the young boys discussed in this appears to be a boy from Tucson, AZ, that our "all-seeing" FDA was refusing to allow treatment on by the Burzynsky clinic 2-3 years ago because he hadn't had chemo treatment but all the Doctor's were saying he wasn't strong enough to survive chemo. Noland Taken from www.getandstaywell.com ******************************Update on Marsh's Case******************************To all of you who have responded to my "Special Plea" lastweek about Marsh, on his behalf, I say "Thank youand God Bless You." Your messages of support from Bulgariato Singapore and everywhere in between and your promisesto be there to support him this Friday have bouyed hisspirits and given him and me energy to fight this travesty.I'll fill you in on some of the details about this caseI've learned in the last few days. is the fatherof a 7-year-old named . About 1 1/2 years ago, was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia). He has been treated with 10 different kinds of chemtherapymedication since then: methotrexate; asperaginase; leuco-vorin; dexamethasone; cytoxan; cytarabine; duanorubicin;prednisone; VT-16...the list goes on.This summer, in July and August, had custody of in Illinois, where he lives (his ex and live in Fort Worth, Texas). showed no sign ofhis cancer, was healthy-looking, played on a baseballteam, etc. attributes this wonderful health tothe complementary treatment he gave this summer:Milk thistle; Ambrotose; Phytaloe; CanSupport for Leukemia;Pau d'arco tea; Essiac tea; N-tense 2; garlic; calcium;MGN-3; echinacea (on days he didn't take Methotrexate);Perfect food by Garden of Life; bee pollen; Juice plus;and acidophilus. When went back to Fort Worth, the mother not onlydidn't continue the complementary treatment above, sheaccused of not giving the child his Methotrexate(not true, apparently) and got a restraining order fromthe court cutting off 's visitations with .She "trusts his conventional doctor" who says gives him a typical "ignorant and arrogant" shrug when mentions any of the above complementary treatments.Of course, since late August when returned toFort Worth, he has had a serious relapse. His spineand bone marrow are now involved and he just got outof the hospital yesterday after lots of high dose chemo, high fever, antibiotics, etc.The hearing this Friday is in Fort Worth. It is at 8:30 AM in 233rd District Court, Tarrant County Civil Courts Building, 100 N. Houston St., third floor. Several ofyou have indicated you want to attend and support . says the media have been alerted and have shownconsiderable interest.I have been in touch with 's attorney -- a youngman with no experience in cases like this. I've triedto get him up to speed with information about Best(a 12-year old who ran away from home to avoid chemo andcured his cancer using 714X and Essiac tea and is now fine10 years later) and Horwin, a 2 1/2 year old whose parents tried to get him treated by Dr. Burzynski in September, 1998. The FDA denied them permission because the child had not undergone a full chemotherapy regimen. The chemo was started in November, 1998. The FDA won. The child died on January 31, 1999. Navarro was a 4-year-old who was the subject of the " Navarro FDA Patient Rights Act--HR 3677," sponsored by Congressman Dan Burton in 2000. was a 4-year old whose parents also tried to get his brain tumor treated by The Burzynski Clinic in Houston. The FDA prohibited it, as it had done with Horwin. Congressman Burton'sbill never passed and died on November 19, 2001 afterreceiving his full dose of chemo.I have suggested a strategy to 's attorney -- tosimply try to get the judge to let name a doctorfor a second opinion on 's care. We have locateda Dr. McWherter in an alternative care cancer clinic inFort Worth and as of today are still trying to get himto respond and agree to do the second opinion. Theattorney seemed responsive to this approach. However,as of yesterday, says when he asked his attorney"What questions are you going to ask me when I testify?"the attorney's response was "ly, I haven't thoughtof any yet."The attorney's sole action to date, apparently, has beento agree with the ex-wife's attorney to ask the judge onFriday to appoint an "ad litum" attorney to represent 's interests (as opposed to those of either parent).Basically, it looks bleak as far as 's chances fordecent representation at this hearing. We're in the pro-cess of looking for another attorney for him.Knowing you, my warm-hearted and knowledgeable readers, Iknow you are asking "What can I do to help?" There issomething concrete. All the legal fees, travel, medicaland other expenses associated with this case have stretched 's meager resources to the breaking point. A specialaccount for donations to help him has been set up. If youwould like to donate, just call National City Bank at (800)925-9259. State that you would like to help by giving to the Marsh Leukemia Fund. I don't know exactly howto call this number from countries outside the U.S., but Iknow it can be done. It is a "toll-free" number and I havecalled them before from Spain, so I know it is possible.Thank you for your support. I'll keep you posted.
