Guest guest
Ben, I used the AMAS test. I called Oncolab and had them fax me the instructions. I then called local labs to see which ones could perform the test to OncoLab's specifications and send it packed in the dry ice. When I did find one, I faxed them the test specs just to make doubly sure. > Is anyone familiar witht the AMAS test for cancer? If so, is it offered elsewhere than Oncolab? I sounds a bit difficult since the blood sample must have special treatment incl dry ice shipment to Oncolab. > > Thanks, Ben > > >
Guest guest
Good morning, Thelma: I imagine you women, and the men should be to, are concerned about breast cancer especially when unexplainable events occur. There is a relatively new cancer test out that is called AMAS (AntiMalignant Antibody Serum) test. The test is ran on a blood sample and checks for cancer anywhere in the body. Once the test and of course, a check test, results show positive, a process of isolating the cancer location begins, since the test does not identify where the cancer is. The AMAS test is also used to monitor the progress of any known cancer and its treatment or need for treatment. It is reportedly more accurate and sensitive to cancer detection than any other known tests. It will detect breast cancer long before any mammogram. More information can be found at http://www.amascancertest.com/ or by typing "AMAS Test" into your search engine and scanning a multitude of web pages. Oncolab in Boston, Massachusetts, is currently the only lab that I know of that performs the test. Therefore, the blood samples are shipped to them overnight by FedEx. If you have any questions after reading about the test, I'll try to answer them. I believe strongly in the AMAS test but believe these statistics are exaggerated. In practice (except perhaps under ideal conditions), it's less than 94% accurate, and much less than 94% accurate w/breast cancer. However, I still think it's a useful screening tool, as long as you don't rely on it alone.
Guest guest
Will doctors do the AMAS or other screening tests as part of a physical or if asked? It seems as though we should have some way to check on the possibility of cancerous cells before they get to the symptom stage. I have an appt with my doctor for a physical on the 19th of this month. Can I expect that she would cooperate and do some kind of screening test other than the typical mammogram and pap if I ask for it? I've been having a lot of digestive problems and intestinal pain, plus I've been losing weight steadily over the past 10 months. I'm very thin at this point, have extreme fatigue and I'm 60 years old. My dad and grandmother died of cancer and my brother just went through a bout of it. Luckily, his was surgically removed. What can I expect from a typical M.D. regarding cancer screening tests? Does anyone know the cost of the AMAS. Do I recall correctly that this is a screening for cancer anywhere in the body? I will appreciate your help. Yes HOW YOU CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE AMAS CANCER TEST Health Sciences Institute e-Alert January 21, 2002 " ..ANYONE can order an AMAS test. Just call 1-800-922-8378 and leave your name and address to receive a free kit in the mail. The kit includes the materials and instructions you need to complete the test, and a packet of scientific literature supporting its benefits. Then, take the kit to your doctor, and ask him to order a blood sample and sign the analysis form. All AMAS tests are analyzed by Dr. Bogoch's staff in Boston..some labs refuse to draw specimens for tests that will be performed at another lab.that's more often the case with smaller labs..If your doctor's lab is not willing to process the AMAS test, and your doctor is not willing to find one that will, do some research on your own. Check the Yellow Pages and call around to larger labs in your area. ...Anyone from anywhere in the world can order the test..Samples sent from outside the U.S. may need to ship in dry ice to ensure a valid sample. The analysis costs $135 (not including extra lab fees or shipping costs).Medicare approved.the kit.free. In the earlier e-Alert, I explained that the AMAS test can detect the presence of cancerous cells .. www.amascancertest.com.
Guest guest
Doctors do not do AMAS routinely so go and get the kit which will be sent you free. Bring the form to the doctor to sign, complete it where applicable, and tell your doctor you want to take this test and will pay for it. Those on medicare do not send a check.............all else must. You need to find a lab that will do the necessary preparation which is rather detailed. I found that a local lab in South Florida would handle it very well. It entails treating the blood a special way, sending it in a container, provided, with dry ice etc.... Another lab that would have done it was Quest but try to find a small local lab that understands the procedure. Any good lab would know how. Then they'll send the report back to your doc and he'll give it to you. Joe C.
Guest guest
Has anyone done this? Did you see instructions to phlebotomist? It says handling blood sample according to their instructions is critcial to accuracy of test and that is all up to phlebotomist you give it to. I have found it difficult to get phleb to follow simple standard procedures for blood sample going to another lab. Also at webaddress they ask for $135.00 upfront? If you pay $135.00 it doesn't seem like the 'kit is free' to me. ...> HOW YOU CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE AMAS CANCER TEST Health Sciences Institute e-Alert January 21, 2002 " ..ANYONE can order an AMAS test. Guest guest
I seem to remember the AMAs as costing about $135. - most doctors do not recognize it at all. Our IPT doctor used them all the time. They are available thru only one lab, Oncolab, in Boston I beleive - you get the the test equip is free - they send it to you - have the blood drawn and overnight in dry ice back to Oncolab. perhaps this websitge will help you (sorry I did not see your post sooner - hoope the information is still helpful to you )- http://www.lightparty.com/Health/DETECT.html Jan

Besides getting a doctor to 'authorize' the test one needs to make sure the lab knows the handling procedure and you may still need to get the ice and prepare for shipping. Hopefully the lab would do it all. If on medicare then there is no charge. Joe C..............on line at a Wyngate Hotel in Louisiana that allows e-mail usage. Guest guest
Hello, I wanted to let you know that I got the AMAS test and had my blood drawn at the drs. office. There were a couple of prodecures to go through there to get the serum ready. I then shipped it overnight in a prepared package that came with the vials, cd and info papers when I ordered it. I shipped it overnight to Boston where this is the only place that actually does the analysis. That was January 31st. I am still waiting for the results. Medicade does pay for this test, all you have to do is send a copy of your card and a certain number that has been assigned to your dr. I'll let you know the outcome when I get results. Guest guest
The women on the Amazon-L Email Group and others have had many false negatives with the AMAS test-- meaning the test indicated they were clear when they actually had cancer. FWIW. Lynne jcastron writes: I had taken copious amounts of Ambrotose when I had conflicting tests that indicated I had cancer cells present and a scan and the AMAS test saying I did not. However a Urine Cytology said I did.
