Hmmm, No yeast? At all? Sounds weird, maybe ask for a copy of the test

results. Perhaps the ranges were " normal " looking to the doc. If his

stools are normal now with all that you have done, that would suggest

that yeast was indeed an issue.

The test indicates he has no yeast in his gut. It does not indicate

whether he has yeast in his ears, brain, or other areas.

And if his bad bms were not related to yeast, then a yeast test would

not tell you the reason for the bad bms.

Stool tests for yeast are notoriously unreliable. I have a rampant

yeast infection which didn't show up on stools test (great smokies).

However the test did pick up dysbiotic bacteria (which are indicative

of an underlying yeast infection). There are many reliable ways to

test for yeast - e.g. by looking at metabolites.

As posted, you can't necessarily depend on stool test yeast

findings. Pangborn/Baker's biomed book goes on at length about this.

None of our stool tests have ever found yeast, but we have been

battling it very obviously for a while. Whenever we successfully hit

it hard, the die-off is so obvious. But our DAN doc was still not

convinced how bad my son's yeast was since it never showed up on

tests. We were finally able to " prove " it by doing a microbial OAT

test, which showed elevated Arabinose levels indicating yeast.

Yeast actually never caused bad stools for us except when die-off

occurred. Sometimes his stools are kinda " fluffy " looking because of

yeast, but not loose. Loose stools for us are almost always

bacterial, or occasionally diet issues. So perhaps your probiotics

and diet change did the trick. We rely on behaviors and stims to

indicate when my son's yeast is coming back.

Any health practitioner who relies on stool tests to diagnose yeast is

an idiot. And to think people pay big bucks for that kind of " expertise " .

I agree with that loose stools are almost always bacterial (good

or bad bacteria). Yeast tends to be constipating more than anything

else. That doesn't mean if you don't have constipation you don't have

yeast - just that that is the tendency.

In terms of stools, the only noticable affect yeast has is it changes

the color more towards reddish brown, where as in a healthy colon

stools tend towards dark brown. People with yeast often have " bitsy "

stools (rather than totally smooth), but this is more a cause rather

than effect - a yeast infection requires maldigestion higher up to

give a constant food supply. Thats how you get dysbiosis. So yeast

doesn't cause bitsy stools, but the two often go together.
