Guest guest
For those of you looking into raw milk, I thought I would post a little update on our situation here. It has been 1 1/2 months since DS has been on raw milk. I give him one full (8 ounce glass in the morning) with no enzymes and he gets 4-6 ounces of kefir made from the milk and then I also use the milk in various recipes. He seems to be doing fine. He is actually doing well lately. He is 21 months now and not diagnosed with anything other than speech delay He is finally attempting to talk, (seems still to be apraxic, but we'll see) He is vocalizing well, stimming is down considerably, and the spacing out which was the most noticeable affect of milk when he was 12 months old has not returned. He is still aware and reacts to his name, plays peek a boo, is starting to wave bye bye, responds to requests, ect. There are periods in the day when he might stare of for a second, but no more than normal and there are times he gets engrossed with something, but he always responds for the most part. Still pointing, following our point...for instace this morning at the park he was at the smaller one for toddlers and he was climbing up to gets on the slide and I said " Avery....Avery look " (he looks at me) and then I say " do you want to go over there to the big park while I point) and he comes right over to me. He just seems to understand so much and really coming to know himself as an idividual these days... So I guess the main thing I want to say is I don't know how much of the improvement is do to the raw milk, or the fact that we have been seeing a chiropractor in the last month. Perhaps they are both working well. We have also been juicing as I do not give additional supplements outside of enzymes. But...I do not think the milk is having adverse affects. Oh the other thing to note that it is Jersey cow milk too. Okey dokey...gotta run. There you have it. Hope everyone is doing great. Oh.... before I forget, can I just throw this in?..How many of your kids had reflux as a baby? Avery had it pretty bad for a full year and I suspect longer. Caused feeding issues and everything. Recently I heard there might be a conncetion between reflux and speech delay. His speech therapist and I discussed that it may have affected vocal play. I think overall he was not developmentally ready to speak until now, but now that he is ready, it's like the sounds are not there because he didn't play with his voice until now. Does that makes sense at all? She said it really could play a role because if you associate pain with your mouth, you generally will keep it closed and DS is a big mmmmmmmer. Like he'll mmmmm (keeping his mouth closed) for a long time before sounds come out. Just thought I would put it out there and see if there are any similar situations. Thanks.
