Guest guest
Thanks for your response, Josie! The difficulty is that I want to give him or her (the ultrasound is tomorrow!!!) the probiotic as soon as they are born and my milk will take several days to come in. The other problem is that I am always shaking so bad after the surgery (anesthesia, anxiety, and the very cold operating room) that I have never held my babies right away so putting them immediately to the breast is an unlikely option for me, too, unfortunately. Whatever it is will have to have my ob's approval since he will necessarily be involved. I will definitely use your advice asap though. I am trying to figure out which particular probiotic would be the best to start with because the Natren link someone provided earlier recommends Bifido infantis over Lactobacillus acidophilus, but all the studies I have read were with Culturelle type sp. at birth and the bifido is supposedly picked up secondarily at the mother's breast (at least when all is going according to nature's plan). I just started taking Therbiotic by Klaire labs this past month at our DAN doc's recommendation because I believe my own body's flora has gotten totally messed up over the years. I have always had nursing problems with each child because of it. This will be my 5th c-section and with each child the yeast(?) problem has gotten worse. My last child reached the point where he would only respond to Lamisil (Nystatin, Lotrimin, Monistat did very little & couldn't eliminate it) when he got diaper rash or myself when my breasts developed that horrible, painful burning sensation (I took diflucan for a month & didn't notice any changes from that either) so this is terribly important for us. This is the 1st pregnancy where I have felt the breast discomfort beginning before I have even delivered so I know I must try something. Also, La Leche had an article that led me to think that I might have had a flare up of eczema at some point or another which has symptoms very similar to yeast and just couldn't differentiate one problem from the other because they both hurt! If anyone has any additional experience or suggestions for dealing with this, I would be quite grateful! > Most advice will tell you to express milk and sprinkle the probiotic in it, > stir and then administer with a medicine dropper. I thought it was a WHOLE > lot easier to sprinkle a little on my nipples once or twice a day right > before he nursed! If you are using formula, of course that's easy as you > can simply add some to the formula.
Guest guest
We are having the same issue with my 4 mo old - ever since we got thrush at 8 wks the reflux and food sensitivities are out of control, and he is growing very very slowly now. interestingly i have never had the nipple pain burning associated with thrush. What about enzymes to help combat the yeast? no fenol, candex, candidase?
