Guest guest
Hi Connie! I don't think that bruising is a normal thing at all. Can you try to get Reaghan in today?? Where is the bruising (top/middle/lower part of the head)? I know that for DOC Bands, it is normal for a new band to fit a bit loosely for the first week or so, but I should think that after 2 weeks, you should be seeing a bit of a snug fit. Please try to be seen today, and if they can't see you, ask the orthotist what you should do in the mean time. Keep us posted, and sorry I couldn't be of more help! Guest guest
- Where is the bruising (top/middle/lower part of the head)? I have an appointment tomorrow, so I'm not going to have her wear it until I see the orthotist. I have to travel 65 miles. She has two bruises, one right where her head starts to round down to her neck and one on the little bald spot they get on the back of their heads. We got the band on 1/16/00 and instantly I thought it didn't fit correctly. It was constantly " popping " up on her forehead and then off. She couldn't even lay down without it coming off completely. We went back and they put more padding in the back, next to her neck. It isn't much better. Now it just shifts up about 1 inch while sleeping. I am worried because when I take it off, the pink pressure spot that is supposed to be on her bulgy forehead is on the flat spot instead. We don't want pressure there! Not to mention the bruises. When I look at the picture of the little girl on the Othromerica web site, I think our band was cut wrong. Reaghan's band does not have any " side burns " . Her side parts only go down to her temple, if that. I believe that would make it not secure on her head. I believe he cut the back of the band too short also. He had to add some more foam type product to the back so it goes further down her neck. So, on the bottom of her band, in the back, the nice white " shell " ends and glued to it is more foam, not covered by the shell. Does this sound typical???? I contacted Dulcey Lima to see what she thought. I think that the Orthodist has only done 1 other Starband. I will talk to him tomorrow, but as with many posts I have read lately......frustration! Guest guest
Hi Kendra, Yea, we did give her the bottle even though it is milk (actually soy) because we wanted her to have liquids. She wouldn't take the apple juice (diluted), pedialyte or water. She started drinking today and is getting better. Its funny (not really), but you know how most of us were shrugged off by our peds when we complained about the flat head? Well, with being sick or with other problems we have with her, the doctors' offices are so quick to shrug everything off, that it is hard to know when to persist. 's cough was so deep in her throat we thought she could have bronchitis or something else. We're first time parents and this is all new. Every time we call the ped, they act like everything is no big deal. Most of the time it isn't, but there are times when it is - like with plagio! I think they shouldn't be so quick to shrug us off. I don't know what led me into this babbling, but thanks for listening/reading. Laurie I know it's hard to see so phlegmmy, but it's important that she get ANY liquid. You don't want her to get dehydrated. If formula is all she will take, give it to her. Maybe you could try a weaker mix? Will she take diluted apple juice? Guest guest
Kendra, I have another one in walking profile, she's just too busy to stop and look! That's my toddler! My husband got the biggest kick out of her last night. When he would call her, she would look at the ceiling and walk away. What a Riot!! We watched her do it about 20 times!! Boy, am I in BIG Trouble!!! I will upload the new one, tell me what you think. I've been concerned with her under bite. I talk to a denist and that goofball actually had the nerve to tell me things like that generally correct itself. UGH!!
Guest guest
Kendra, Due to her age, I'm not sure if we will see a 100% correction. I would say it is about 70% corrected, and that's good enough for me. We marveled at her this evening and we could stop treatment, but we're going to wait for precious Seth to come down and kiss her head a few more times. They actually had the nerve to tell me this " Pediatric Dentist " was amongst a leader in research. I almost fell on the floor!! I got an email from a mother in my area, and Children's Hospital of Michigan have diagnosed her 5 month old with Plagiocephaly. It is congenital, and they want to wait until this child is 7 months old to begin treatment. What is wrong with these people? I'm off to help!! Guest guest
: It's better, but I'll still have to make it a bit smaller before I put her up front. Good enough for now! ) It's a very cute picture! Can we see her face now? Guest guest
I will upload the new one, tell me what you think. It's a bit hard to tell because her chin kind of blends into the sun shining off of her shoulder (or something!), but it does look like there's a bit of an underbite. Have you seen any improvement with the band? Did your dentist tell you when the magic jaw fairy would be by with her wand?
