Guest guest
I restarted chelation for my son this fall after a very nasty arsenic spike due to chicken, this time using a No Fenol, vitamin C, and uva ursi/pau d'arco with each round of ALA (because for some reason, he gets bacterial rather than yeast overgrowth lately). He is saying " I love you, " putting together abstract thoughts such as asking me his schedule for the next day in the evenings, and mentioning that it's December... as in, " December. Presents. Noah's presents. Where are the presents? " His language is still entirely scripted - for instance when I'm leaving he'll call out, " see you next time! " - but he's using the scripting appropriately for the most part. I doubt he'll ever have truly spontaneous language; his mercury exposure was largely prenatal, and enormous. He and one other boy are sitting in on inclusion social studies as well as PE, music and computer classes. The boy with whom he goes to social studies is so mildly autistic that he was well into regular kindergarten before a teacher and his parents decided to even have him evaluated, whereas my son at that age was in diapers, nonverbal and had really exaggerated and disruptive behaviors. He sits in with an aide and I don't think he's really getting much out of the class, but he seems really proud to be there. He LOVES going to the other specials, which he also does with an aide. The main things I have been impressed by are how adding No Fenol has limited his reactions to the ALA, which previously were very difficult to deal with, and how it has increased his capacity for abstract thought and language. He is capable of future thought, such as planning trips to Blockbuster and what DVD he wants to rent, imaginging if he goes with me to pick up my daughter from kindergarten what puzzle he's going to ask to borrow (and remembering to bring back the one he previously borrowed which I often forget), finding things in the place they last were and based on verbal cues only, such as his shoes in the morning, and imaginging and being able to narrate things he sort of is dreaming of. Like he's really wanting me to take him to see " The Nativity Story " lately, which he communicates in a very autistic way (by reciting the website trailer, complete with the various voices, and drawing the logo over and over). We've seen several movies very successfully this fall, although he ends up on my lap at various points and we have to bring our own snacks of course. He also for the first time is expressing pain and upset feelings, and seeking me for comfort when these things occur. I went back to school this fall so I haven't been around but I have a short semester break and I wanted to write in about how well he's doing No Fenol chewables continue to work miracles with fruits, as well... we are up to 5 fruits and 2 vegetables that he can tolerate. The really huge news is that the combination of enzymes and chelation has allowed him to tolerate some rice products. This means that there are more commercially prepared foods available for him, and our school district is committed (so they say) to providing him with a lunch that meets the dietary restrictions on his IEP. If that ever happens, I think he'll be the first autistic kid I know of who's getting meals from the school, per USDA regulations... I will keep you posted. This is my son also LOL Anti-virals caused a boatload of yeast for over 2 years, now they cause bacteria problems. > He is saying " I love you, " putting together abstract thoughts such as > asking me his schedule for the next day in the evenings, and > mentioning that it's December... as in, " December.
