Guest guest
Hello Kelley, We have just started using this treatment for the last month with my five-year ds. My insurance pays for my son's chiropractor treatments so we thought we would try it since a friend of ours said it helped her son calm down and concentrate better than ever. I have not seen any dramatic change in his behavior but my son loves going to these appointments and chats it up with our doctor everytime we go which is not something he normally does with strangers. You can email offline if you have more questions. Stella > > Has anyone tried this? Guest guest
This is one of many "treatments" out there for autism. You just have to be careful where you put your time and money. Check into each suggested treatment and look for scientific studies proving that it really works. Of course, anyone who sees a chiropractor is going to feel better afterwards. Just like anyone who improves their diet will feel better. The truth is, nothing really works except a lot of hard work - therapies aimed directly at teaching skills that people need. RoxannaAutism Happens ( ) Craniosacral Treatment Has anyone tried this? I heard it's being used to treat autism.Kelley

Guest guest
I can't comment as to helping with autism. I can say that, online, a couple or so parents love it for themselves, helps with stress/anxiety. Those comments were made when someone asked about it in another group. Now - my son, now age 18, had it back in 6th grade. His OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) popped up that year, was severe. (He was diagnosed with HFA/Aspergers in 8th grade) The craniosacral treatment was *not* good for him. He felt fine during and after it but hours later his OCD was a *lot* worse; I pinpointed it back to the treatment days and we stopped the treatment and didn't have such increased evening episodes again. So for him, it wasn't good. I said something to my older sister about it and her boyfriend at the time - who from her comments to me over time was making me think " bipolar " - had tried it also and she said he always seemed more agitated afterwards. An occupational therapist who was trained in it treated my son. > > Has anyone tried this? Guest guest
I'm not sure if it's the same thing or not but I heard biocranial treatment is being used to treat autism. I was going to try it with my son but I did it with myself first (to treat teeth grinding, which it didn't help by the way) and it hurt so bad that I didn't think my son would be able to handle it if I barely could.Kelley <aspieparentof1@...> wrote: Has anyone tried this? Guest guest
It's not painful. Light touch to the head. Do a websearch, and there's a site that promotes this, provides information. My daughter has had a few sessions as part of her OT time. She's doing well overall, its hard to pinpoint specifically what is helping. She's also doing therapeutic music, sensory integration, taking fish oil etc. But she is improving socially and in other areas (age 4). > > Has anyone tried this? Guest guest
i recently received craniosacral treatment for daily headaches from which i suffered with for 5 years. i lived on motrin everyday for all that time, just to take the edge of the headache. i am happy to report after 3 treatments, the headaches are gone, just like magic. i did not go in believing it would help. and the treatment did not hurt at all, infact it felt very good --like it was relieving pressure. i would be also feel very groggy after a treatment for about 30 minutes. i don't know if this would help with autism or not, but after trying just about everything else from physical therapy, accupuncture, chiropractic, massage, you name it i tried, this worked for me for chronic headaches. regards, melody Has anyone tried this? Guest guest
what my research indicated was that it is important to get the right person, if you want results. i guess there is not a governing body on this practice. i lucked out because my physical therapist just happened to be trained. and he happened to be capable. my cost would be the normal co-pay of $15/treatment. it was extremely fortunate. i know this does not help you. however, the medical community is opening up to alternatives, perhaps your regular doctor could make a recommendation, or perhaps there would an affiliation website that makes recommendations. best of luck to you. regards, melody Has anyone tried this?
