Guest guest
Sorry it's been a while since I've chimed in... But I saw the messages regarding Pokemon, YuGiOh and the like. My son was OBSESSED with those game but doesn't play anymore since no one in his peer group wants to play such games. His new obsession is amime'. All things anime'!!! He even wants to live in Japan since that's where the stuff was formed. Anyone else out there have an AS child that is into it as well? Guest guest
No, it should be a symptom only if your kid can name everyone, knows the origin, owner, characteristics, strength of each Pokemon, then he or she is a Aspergers Kid. Guest guest
Yep, my DS could pass that test too. But his new dx is PDD-NOS. Does that still count? He has 3 new books about Pokemon, the DS Game, several of the figures, and he's trying to earn the cards by following his "get ready in the morning" schedule without mom nagging. I just found a bunch of characters on clearance at Wal Mart for a buck each. Great to save as rewards for those more challenging behaviors! He hasn't learned how to play the game yet (battle), but I'm sure he will soon. He took the books to school for show & tell, but most of the kindergarteners didn't know what Pokemon was!!! That's how we know that they are all NT 6 year olds.Apparently a new fixation is on the horizon for these guys--Bakugan toys. Anybody heard of them or seen them? He saw the cartoon at Grandma & Papa's house since we don't have cartoon network at home. You launch the little balls from a launching thingy and then they turn into little monsters, I think. Someone at childcare has them. It's now the birthday gift obsession, but his birthday is in late summer. > >> > Both of my kids love Pokemon. Guest guest
My son is really into the whole YugiOh and Pokemon thing.. I had neices and nephews that went crazy for this about 5 years ago.. So I think the "trend" is either coming back or is just kicking around for the kids to dabble. I attended a gaming convention for years and I know Pokemon was a big craze...I live near a local gaming store and they offer Pokemon game night still as well as Yugioh... I can't figure out card games to save my life. I wish I could get fiaxted on things like my son does...maybe then I could actually follow through ...haha I know in the gaming industry there are so many things these kids would probably get into. My son is 9 and the active imagination he has is incredible. Possible Roleplayer when he gets older??? Hmm one never knows. But with the stats and Character building the RPG's offer ...well I think it would be good for these kids. And then maybe slide in Social Skills stats so thenn maybe they can pick up extra Social Skills training.. I know I am rambling..but I thought it was cool I saw the post for Pokemon and felt like going with it!!! Hope you all have a good day
Guest guest
Webkinz is gaining in popularity in these here parts. You buy the stuffed animal, register it online and the kids get to create a world for their pets. The good part is that the site is secure and safe – no nasty ads, and the kids can play together, send each other webkinz gifts (free stuff) online. We even pull out the notebook and both kids can play and send each other stuff. The notes they can send each other is basically a form letter – no freestyling. It has been a temporary break from pokemon. Adam informed me last night he still likes pokemon. Basically, he stopped cold turkey since his neighbor friend the same age/grade had moved on to webkinz. He is learning to just do pokemon on his own or with someone else who enjoys it and do the webkinz with (until he moves onto something else). I can see the frustration my kiddo has though, in trying to keep himself from getting overboard with pokemon because I asked if he wanted to bring the box o pokemon stuff upstairs, and he paused and said, “no, I’ll just go get the book”. So I brought it up and put it in his room after he left. (the box). So if perhaps there is anyone in the st. charles, MO area around the age of 10 who likes pokemon, let’s get together at a park sometime while his sister is in summer school.
