It really does help! My son's moods are definently evened out. It will take a month or so to see a difference so don't give up!!

We use Shaklee Omega Guard. I am a Distributor with Shaklee. Jake is almost 9 and takes two a day.

Another good one is http://www.kirkmanslab.com They carry the Nordic Naturals brand. Very small, great for little ones, and come in Strawberry and Lemon flavor.

DO NOT buy this in over the counter. You have no idea how long they have been there nor how they are tested for mercury. Buy these types of products from a reputable company. There is very little regulation on products like this for over the counter.

Jake had a hard time taking these at first. I put them in a prescription bottle and told him his Dr. prescribed him something new. Since he is a "rule boy", he took them no problem since the "dr." prescribed them. LOL!

Morning All!I am sure this has been brought up before, but I was wondering if anyone gives their Aspie fish oil capsules and if so, what changes have you seen. My DS is almost 11 and wanted to try it with him but didn't know how much to give, how often, and if there were certain brands that are better or that don't have an aftertaste or any taste at all. Someone mentioned to me that they bought some from Sam's club. I just didn't want to invest a whole lot in it if something happens and he can't take it. Thanks a bunch!Tonya

Tonya,

Just make sure your son isnt allergic to any kind of fish before

giving.. I used to give it to my son when he was about 4..Didnt notice

any change much, but that was then.. Imay try again..I tried fish oil

myself once and it gave me very loose stool, so dont know if your son

would have that side effect or not..

Yes, my son takes the Nordic Naturals lemon flavor and loves it.I did have to tell him in the beginning that this was smart medicine. And that it would make him smarter. He was impressed with that and now asks for it every day.marieFrom: happybrats3@... <happybrats3@...>Subject: Re: ( ) Fish oil capsules Date: Thursday, January 8, 2009, 10:27 AM

My rheumatologist also recommended fish oil and the brand I use (not Kirkland

but I buy it at Costco) says two a day. Depends on the potency. Fish oil is

good for a lot of things and it certainly won't hurt you. I am in remission but

continue to take it every day.

I always check my fish oil for purity - no heavy metals. That means I have to

buy the more expensive stuff so I only take one fish oil a day. An inexpensive,

clean substitute is flax seed oil so I take a fish oil in the morning and flax

oil in the evening. I think it does help me feel a little better, a little

healthier.

Hi ,

<<I know several people in the group recommended taking fish oil

capsules I'm curious what dosage others are using and if you saw an improvement

and how soon.>>

I tried them too, at three per day, for almost a year. I saw absolutely

no effect whatsoever on my health, and a slight negative effect on my

pocket. So I dropped them.

Fish oil does contain some essential nutrients which your body needs,

but you can get all of these in sufficient quantities from normal,

healthy food (including fish!).

I look for " purified " and then read the fine print for " free of detectable

levels of mercury, cadmium, lead and PCBs " or 'free of heavy metals " or some

similar wording.

I thought I'd try 1 bottle and see if there was a positive effect and then

decide if I was going to continue. I have enough for about 6 MOS. Thanks

for the input.

Hi, I'm taking " Ethical Nutrients " Hi-Strength Fish oil Liquid. Its sounds like

it would taste awful but its not that bad. It only has a slight oily texture

mixed with an orange flavour but you only need 5mls per day which is the

equivalent of 9 fish oil capsules or like 1 kg of fish! I take it with my

breakfast so the taste goes away straight as I eat something. It is definitely

helping to " oil " my joints and as an added bonus it helps keep you " regular " and

my doc reckons its great for your brain too!
