Guest guest
I am so so so proud of my son! Up until this Monday (8) was a dog-paddle-look-like-he's- gonna-drown type swimmer. He loves the water, and is completely fearless, but he just was a mess. Everytime someone *tested* him, they always gave him the lowest color wristband, which means he had to stay in the shallow water. This infuriated him, because we let him in the deep water (with supervision, of course). He likes to dive off the diving board and he is very capable of diving and swiming to the side. So I enrolled him in private swim lessons. And the change is, well, nothing short of amazing! In 4 (FOUR) days; only 4- 30 minute lessons!! And my son is swimming freestyle and breathing every 4th stroke completely across the pool!! Of course there have been many " own agenda " moments, but he's learned!! It's so exciting! And he is soooooooo proud. Now if only I could understand how to upload pictures I'd post one! Donna Mom to an AWEsome Boy!
Guest guest
That is fantastic! I can see why you would be very proud. I am signing my son up this summer for lessons. I can't teach him because I am scared to death to get in water deeper than bath water. ( ) Very Proud!! Guest guest
That describes my almost 7 year old! Too funny. Even WITH private lessons this summer he's still swimming the same way. I'm sure he'll get better with practice. I'm just happy he's not afraid of the water anymore, but knows to be cautious. > > I am so so so proud of my son! > Up until this Monday (8) was a dog-paddle-look-like-he's- > gonna-drown type swimmer.... Guest guest
Brilliant news - so pleased for you all! And isn't it just the best thing when something just clicks into place - just like that? it seems to happen so often like that with our kids for some reason. My 2 ASD (now 14 & 12) kids have been having group swimming lessons for 2 yrs now but the most progress has been made in the 1-1 lessons they've had. DD is still in the same class but has made so much progress. She can now swim a whole length of the pool and even jumps in the water - this is somebody who didn't like getting water on her face and certainly wouldn't dunk her head under the water. DS who always swam doggy paddle has moved up groups a couple of times - he was always the confident one and now swims like a fish. My only regret is not getting them swimming lessons sooner. Enjoy! > > > > I am so so so proud of my son! > > Up until this Monday (8) was a dog-paddle-look-like-he's- > > gonna-drown type swimmer.... >
