Guest guest
When I finally went to the doctor about the unbearable pain I was in, he not only diagnosed the PA but also found that my thyroid was dead....kaput. Lee Ann, I started having IBS symptoms about six months ago....bloating, alternating constipation and diarrhea. I am using Metamucil for it at my doctor's suggestion and it helps quite a bit. You can also get " colon cleanse " products in health food stores that have psyllium in them that also help. Dwanna
Guest guest
Hi Dwanna, Do you have reactions to certain foods? There are many things that will sent me straight to the bathroom within 15 minutes after I eat. I have to be very careful when I go out to eat because I may end up spending a long time in the bathroom! The Dr. has never suggested Metamucil to me. Since I do have food allergies I am not sure if the Metamucil would do the job. I will have to ask the Doc. and see what he thinks. Guest guest
I, too, have hypothyroidism. Mine works some, but not all, and I'm on daily levoxyl (generic). That was diagnosed back in 87, but I had since at least 84. The doctor noticed my enlarged thyroid in the autumn of 84 and merely asked, gee do you eat a lot of seafood? No tests, nothing. Jerk. My hips give my problems too, Lee Ann. Everything for me started in my left hip about 4 or 5 years ago. The fatigue is the biggest thing to go with my supplements. I've been able to get up easily without a lot of stiffness. Yesterday I had a million things to do during the baby's nap and I was trying to hurry through them so I could go lie down too. The minute I was ready I heard her awake and crying on the monitor. I almost panicked , until I realized I wasn't bone-weary like usual; I had a reserve of energy I hadn't even noticed. It surprised the heck out of me, but it's what happened before, too, with these. I stayed up with her until she went down for the night at 8:30 pm. Then I went down too :-). btw, I get those anxiety attacks too! Ever since high school. My doctor then said it was psychosomatic (sp). I had had the psoriasis at that point for about 5 or 6 years but no sign of arthritis. Mine manifest as an inability to breath. I just can't get enough air and I feel like I'm suffocating. I've figured out ways to deal with it--specifically making lists of the things I'm worried and anxious about. When I see it on paper, then I can dismiss the ones that I have no control over, and make concrete decisions about the rest. As I weed through them all, my panic subsides.) Guest guest
When one of my cats had inflammatory bowel disease I gave him the herbs marshmallow and plantain. The blood in his stool stopped immediately. I don't know if inflammatory bowel is the same as irritable bowel, but the herbs might still help if there is a difference. They won't cure it by themselves, so I'm not saying this is the only thing you should do, but they'll help, especially with the discomfort. Hope this helps, Odette wrote: > > > Hi all, > > I was wondering whether any of you lovley people on here are from the > UK. > > I ask this mainly because I do and when I asked my doctor about Bowel > cleansing and Parasite cleansing and she didn't know what I was > talking about. > So if any one is from the Uk, how do you go about cleansing? > > I have IBS, which I have had for the last 4 yrs and never been able > to get anything to take the pain away. > > A friend from the US suggested that I might have parasites and to go > and see my doctor. They just seem to treat the symptoms once we've messed up our bodies and can't offer any information on how to restore the balance. I found this site last Sept and have learnt an amazing amount. I was also diagnosed by my GP as having IBS abt 5 yrs ago ..... I now believe they use this label for 'any old symptom' to do with the bowel. I did the Mastercleanse (the ol' water, lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper drink) for 10 days last year, followed by anti candida diet which really sorted me out for the better! Found it was my diet that caused the IBS symptoms. I hope to do parasite/liver/gallbladder cleanses in the future. If it wasn't for the internet and this list, I'd still be up half the night. Read as much as you can. There are numerous products available on-line so availability isn't a problem. All the best!

Thanks! I also appreciated the explanation of the five kinds of PA. Thanks! Have a good day everyone! Guest guest
> ra - I am checking up on emails after a few days away - what is IBS? here. Thanks to everyone who posted about IBS in responce to my question. I have had IBS all my life (stress related) but a few years ago I had a very bad bout that caused severe weight loss. Happened after taking an antibiotic which I had taken with impugnity before! It was after that bad case that my psoriasis first appeared as small spots on the palms of both hands. I finally got the bowel under control by watching what I ate but the psoriasis on the right hand grew and grew and then of course the psoriasis went crazy when the arthritis appeared this past winter. I know that the IBS doesn't like all these nsaids I have been taking. Beats me how I can get the inflammation under control and not take my medicine. I will try the *calcium treatment* because I do take calcium but with D and Magnesium. They say you can just get away with something like Calcium Carbonate. Heaven knows I take enough of that! Guest guest
Janet, I don't know if there are different ways to test for it...when I was first going through the getting my diagnosis for pernicious anemia, they thought I might be bleeding internally, so they did both an endoscopy and colonoscopy, and during the endoscopy they took a biopsy of the small intestine...nothing showed up, but I know I feel better without gluten, especially as it relates to fatigue...hope that helps. Guest guest
Here is what has helped me - my gasto prescribed levid. and that helped some - but I got to thinking that I use to take a muscle relaxer -(robaxin) and I started back taking it 500mg x2 aday. and this has helped greatly. I was told that the anxiety - which causes muscle spasms, does nasty things to us. maybe this will help someone. well, I'm off to get a root-canal. aren't I the envy of all! lol.
