Guest guest
Request a full education evaluation in writing. Doing well in academics is not a reason to deny help for a disability. My ds gets all A's and one B and he has an IEP. Every time they tell you they won't do something, ask for their reasons in writing. When you write requesting the evaluation, state all the problems she has including her dx. As for not having any problems at school, I think that is not true and they are lying to you. You've already mentioned two things that are noticed at school - her poor handwriting and her inability to take regular PE class. I would bet good money that if you went to school and observed her, you could make a long list of behavior problems she is having. Usually when they say they don't see these behaviors at school, what they are really saying is that these behaviors are not bothering THEM. ( ) 504? iep? I have a 15 year old daughter who has A.S. I have had nothing but bitterness and arguments about getting her a 504 and or a IEP. She is very intelligent and that is what I am told over and over again from teachers, principals, superintendents. Okay! I know, but she cannot sit and write anything which is a prompt. she has very bad handwriting, she is obsessed with Harry potter, The Beetles, or what ever the newest thing is with her, she cannot stay on task once she is home, the behaviors she has at home are not seen at school, therefore, I feel like they think I am a crazy mother! She failed gym because she will not participate, because of her clumsiness. The gym teacher has used her as an example to other students! I feel like I am going in circles... there is so much more but I feel like I have been rambling to much now. Any suggestions?
