There will be one lesson or work station for each subject and they are to stay on that subject until he finishes. If that includes letting him throw a fit in the middle than that is what it means but they don't change subjects. In the past they have been letting him play on the computer or if he is really aggressive they send him home. So glad to see them reinforcing the behavior. He will not change classrooms. Right now some of the time he is in the class for certain things and then he goes out for some subjects and then back to classsroom. Not enough structure and too much stimulation! Last but not least- the principal told the aide to either be a team player or she needs to quit. The aide misses a couple of days a week and cries in front of the child. The principal told her she should expect the aggressiveness. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted! hallelujiah! I am so excited! Lori Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
This is great news. Principals don't often realize how important their role is in helping children with Autism. They can set the tone in the entire school. Her support of your child, the teacher, and everyone else should be applauded! How great that she was so honest with the aide too! In the work I do with training teachers it is so hard to get Principals to participate! I'm so happy for you! The principal attended a seminar last week called autism 101.
