Guest guest
I don't think that CBS is so innocent about this incident. They have in the past dropped contestants for inappropriate remarks. How is the " retard " comment not inappropriate? I think we all should contact the companies that advertise during Big Brother. It is only through this type of advocacy that we will change this society's attitude towards autism. I think a quick polite note asking them to be socially responsible and drop their ads until CBS apologizes and drops the idiot who made the comment could have a strong effect. I did it, and encourage everybody on this list to do it. Guest guest
The guy is a moron.. Granted CBS not making a statement is indeed an idiotic move I just think some days we have bigger fish to fry. I am not judging those who are indeed writing in. Just saying the world is full or morons and his own fate that he sealed. I work with special needs kids and think that anyone who uses that word while not in a clinical sense is a moron. My son of course is autistic too and also works with other special needs kids at his school, as he is now high functioning. To me the R word is like the antiquated N word.. Its not just the word.. But the intent in which it is used and it disgusts me either way. I will be forwarding the links to my other autism groups though Hon ~ I do believe its great info and I know many who are looking for it. -- ( ) Re: Call Big Bother Advertisers Today: "Retards" comments are unacceptable I don't think that CBS is so innocent about this incident. Guest guest
You know.. That makes sense. Although I think his exposure and the discussion is opening a sore sport with us.. I hope that more people who saw the backlash.. Will double check themselves When using that word.. I swear.. When I have a cashier say " Ooops.. I'm so retarded" when they give me the wrong change... It is just disgusting! Maybe exposing this jerk was good.. Getting him fired And saving some kids he was in charge of some grief I We should be asking CBS to have a forum discussion on the topic.. I think that would be a great idea You have given me a lot to think about. I have a t shirt and design I had already made on the topic.. Long before this topic came up I work with two people in my part time job who use the word retarded for EVERYTHING.. It stopped when I brought a mug in with this on it LOL http://www.cafepress.com/stronggear/2247965 -- ( ) Call Big Bother Advertisers Today: "Retards" comments are unacceptable I know that some have asked "What is CBS responsible for". They are responsible because they could have easily edited this part out. These people are recorded 24/7. CBS should have been smart enough to cut that part out. So yes they should apologize. Guest guest
I totally agree that CBS should at least have edited it out , why would they permit it to be aired, so i feel they are just as responsible as this Adam guy who said it. It well could have all been prevented, but they chose to allow it to go thru. Sherry<cmcintosh5@...> wrote: You know.. That makes sense.
