Does anyone had any experience with vyvanse? My son (8 1/2) is

starting this tomorrow and I am scared to death! He currently takes

celexa too for anxiety (8mg) and it has done wonders for him. We are

starting with 15 mg of vyvanse in the am for 1 week, then increasing to

30mg after 1 week if all goes ok. I'm afraid of the side effects but

the fact that it is in and out of your system fast makes me feel

better, where as the celexa you have to gradually wean off of it.

Thanks, Tammy

Yes, my son is currently taking Vyvanse and doing really well (about 3

months ago he started). He took Adderral XR for years, since he was

about 7. It was very hard before then because Mike's issues were

dismissed as behavior problems. Then he deveoped prominent ticks and

involuntary muscle movement from it within the last year (now that

scared me). The best thing I ever did was take him to his Dr. He

takes Vyvanse, Albilify, Celexa, and Clonodine and his quality of life

and self esteem are so much better-just to name one of many positives.

We experienced no problem at all with the Vyvanse-it's a twelve hour

pill. Lastly, don't be afraid to talk to your Dr., whenever Mike

starts a new med, I usually have questions and always check in with him

it 2 weeks just to make sure everything is going okay. And even if the

Vyvanse dosen't work for him-try not to make yourself worry-you'll find

the right fit sometimes it just takes a little longer-but it's worth

it.

DS, 24, has been using Vyvanse for several months. He really likes it,

especially the long term effect. Says he can feel it wear off around 6

pm, which is perfect. It lets him function through a whole day and be

gone in time to go to sleep.

He has also used the Daytrana patch. It worked really well, but hated

the adhesive residue. We have probably also used just about everything

on the market too! But no problems with Vyvanse. His physician who is

ADD takes it also! That made me feel even better. She is a wonderful

doctor...how great to have one that is so understanding of his condition.

My 12-year-old son has been on 30 mg Vyvanse every morning since

September. Before that he was on Metadate. We haven't noticed much

difference between the two -- only switched to Vyvanse because it can

be put in a drink (he can't swallow pills). He has Asperger's with

attention/focus issues, and these meds really help him, especially

with classwork and homework. The only side effects he has had on

either has been low appetite at lunchtime and occasional headaches

which usually can be resolved if he drinks more water.

Hope that helps!

Tammy,

My son has been on this drug for several months and we hava had a good experience son far. WE tried the daytana patches which helped but he lost 15 pounds in one month with them. He has only lost 1 pound with the vynasse and so far it has helped. He is 10 weighs 61 pounds and is on 40mg. It also has helped make homework time better because it stays in the system longer into the evening. Let us know how it works.
