I'm the Autism Specialist for a private school in Arlington, and we

have a few summer programs that you might be interested in (the ones

I am teaching are below). We also have a summer school Pre-K and

Kindergarten inclusion class, if that's more of what you're

interested in. http://www.flintacademy.com/ (click on 'Summer Camp

2008').

ABA Playgroup

Ages: 3 - 5

I am developing a beginner-level ABA class for parents who would like

to learn the basics of ABA while playing and having fun with their

children. It will be a program for children with autism and their

siblings ages 3 – 5. The playgroup will probably be starting sometime

in June.

If you would like more information about the playgroup, please send

me an e-mail with your e-mail address, number of children who would

be attending, and what days (weekdays only) and times would be best

for you. Please put 'ABA Playgroup' in the subject line.

E-mail nicole@... for more information.

Reading and Social Skills Tutoring

Grades: Pre-Kindergarten - 5th

Pre-Kindergarten focus on reading readiness.

Older grades focus on research-based reading strategies

including strategies for comprehension and fluency.

Fun social skills games included as needed.

All sessions held at an Arlington-area private school.

Rate: $50 per hour

E-mail nicole@... for more information.

Thanks!

Caldwell, M.Ed.

you may want to contact your local Autism Project or Society. Pam :) A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps!

Where do you live? I know of a camp in Texas that my son attended when he was 11 but they had camps exclusively for teens too.

Here's a link to their website. It's a Christian-themed camp but non-denominational. We're Methodist and Dylan had no problems with how they integrated Christ into their daily activities.

I was so pleased with the staff and structure of the camp. Dylan had a really hard time sleeping away from home for a week though. That was the toughest part for him. He liked the camp, he just said "if I could sleep at home each night and go there during the day, I would." We decided not to attend last summer but I might suggest this to him again this summer now that he's a little older. The camp itself was just wonderful though.

Last year went to a boys and girls club camp. We were fortunate

that the school district here in NH buys slots for kids with special

needs who are likely to lose social skills over the summer. He had a

1:1 support person. I know that is probably not done in Texas but

the boy and girls clubs might be able to help in some way. The 1:1

person was a college student. Even if you pay for this camp it isn't

as expensive as some of the others. The biggest problem would be if

you need a 1:1 support. Boys and Girls clubs probably have dealt

with asperger kids before, though. It worth checking anyway.
