Guest guest
The school psychologist sent home a letter recommending a psychological evaluation of my ds. They need our consent for this and have also sent home a parent rating scale of the BASC-2 - Behavior Assessment System for Children, 2nd edition. has a diagnosis of PDD-NOS from his developmental pediatrician and is in a regular kindergarten classroom with 16 other children. He gets speech, OT, PT and pull out with the special ed teacher. He is in his regular classroom about 1/2 of the time. I'm going to start pushing for a para (thanks to all the words of advise from you all on my last post about this). My question now is what are they looking for by doing a psychological evaluation? Is there any risk of the school giving less services, or trying to put him in a special ed classroom and not keep him in a regular classroom? I don't want to consent to anything unless I know what they are looking for and what purpose it will serve. I want to make sure that the school is not doing something that will serve THEIR best needs and not serve 's needs. I don't think this is the angle they are going for, but I want to have my guard up and be totally prepared for anything. Does anyone know what specifically a psychological evaluation looks for?
