Guest guest
We had our PPT today and we were all ready to demand that para for .At our last meeting, the principal stated that " didn't come to kindergarten with a para, so it will be much more difficult to get him one now." I was all set today with "well, he didn't come with an umbrella either, but it doesn't mean he won't need it!"I still can not believe it - the school recognized 's need and actually placed a couple of paras in the room on a rotational basis to see how would do. He did so well these last couple of weeks, that the team wants to add a para to 's IEP! They wanted to know if it was o.k. with us!!!HAHAHAHAHA - that's ALL I've wanted for the last several weeks. Here I was all set for the fight of a lifetime with the school and they had already put this in place. I love our school system. Now he will not have a full time para - only during academics (that's really when he needs the most assistance staying on task and refocusing). The school is concerned that he will become too dependent on the para if it's full time. And really the goal is to get him to become MORE independent over time, but for now, he has exactly what he needs!I'm so happy! And I just wanted to share with you all as you all have been very helpful with advise over the last couple of weeks. We'll have another PPT closer to the end of the school year to plan for first grade - I'll keep you all posted on 's progress.Thank you,Janna
