Guest guest
I never knew that service dogs can help those on the ASD. An older friend of mine, Olivia, born visually impaired, has a seeing-eye dog. And she got service dogs starting when she was 17. And it helps her get around District of Columbia metropolitan area.Sincerely, A. WongFrom: mommy1as <misha_iu@...>Subject: ( ) Service dogs? Date: Friday, March 20, 2009, 7:38 PM Do you have a service dog? Is your dog trained specifically for ASD? Is it an approved dog (Can go into a grocery store, etc with child)? Does anyone have info for these types of service dogs? How do you like it? Websites to go to or numbers to call for more info? Thanks Much! Guest guest
The same query came up on another group yesterday; so I will post my suggestion over here as well. This arose in a chromosome disorder site. Often kiddos with a chromosome difference have a duel diagnoses of Autism/Autistic tendencies so the same information will translate to other conditions, including strictly an ASD: I am going to provide you a link to a site that I Administer to because the founder is in the process of getting funding for a service dog to assist her little girl. We've done a lot of research on the subject... so far, all pluses! " 's Syndrome/Tetrasomy 18p Canada " http://www.tetrasomy18p.ca/ Once there, click on the section titled FORUM, then ACCESSABLE TRAVEL and there you will see the topic to click on SERVICE DOGS.
