Hi, I thought I would introduce myself. I am a mother to a wonderful

4 year old with High Functioning Autism / Aspergers. He was dx this

past year. It was the most devastating thing we as parents had to

hear.

Our Journey began at age 1.5. Given vaccines and then a dog had biten

him withing a couple weeks apart time. One week after the dog bite /1

month after last vaccines he started having at least 8 seizures a

day. High fevers up to 101- 107.0 he was hospitalized. Upon being

there and then sending us home, we came home with our son that no

longer could talk and barely walked. Fevers persisted all together

for 3 months. His normal body temp didn't really regulate until

another 2 months. He didn't sleep well at all anymore. His eating

habits went to not eating. He was def fighting a battle. He got

better and we got him to programs to help speech therpy,PT. Started

school at age 3. During this period no one said anything about

autism. Our pedia said it was time to change neuro as my son seizure

just was not under control and we need a new spec. We agreed and

went. That is where we have gotten so many answers and my son is

getting even better. Although that is also the place where we learned

that our son has autism. It was very bitter/sweet. we as parents are

glad to know in a way so we can help him as much as we can and have

more of an understanding. Not to mention to help others to understand

him also. He has gained back alot of his speech. He is in OT,PT,ST.

We are going to add Horseback riding this summer and Karate if

tolerated. We started a casien free diet as well. Within a matter of

weeks my son could talk without his face twitching. We are still

working with his diet as he does not like to eat. I pray everyday

that we get the strengh we need to help him grow as healthy, happy as

we he can get. I pray for all the families that is effected by

this " autism " as it can be hard, but there is one thing I can say and

that is autism hold a huge peice of my heart and that would be my

son. One of the bravest little fellows I know. As I sure all of us

parents feel that way about our little ones. Well, I am going on and

on here. Sorry so long. Sometimes I get carried away when talking

about my little angel. Hope to chat at u all again soon:) take care

and God Bless:) oh, and thanks for taking the time to read this.

Theres a reason to smile everyday!!!
