Guest guest
Pragmatic language - there are a lot of books out on this subject anymore. So here is a short list of things I think are good reads or good help --> "Teaching children with autism to Mind read" has great ideas in it. "Teaching your child the language of social success" is an awesome book. It breaks down the different areas of social skills. "Super Skills" is a great book for curriculum and activity ideas. It has a ton of activity ideas in it. I think it also has a question section so you can pinpoint problem areas. "Thinking about you, Thinking about me" is another good book. You can see these on www.socialthinking.com and she has some new books out now that I have not seen yet. But I've heard her speak and she is cutting edge where social skills are concerned, IMO. "Teach me Language" is a good book for younger kids with HFA/AS. It is like a book and a workbook in one. It has explanations, then worksheets you can use. My own ds used this book as well as the first book listed when he did ABA years ago. There is a nice weekly "e-newsletter" you can subscribe to online. http://www.socialperspectives.com/ You can sign up on the left side of the page and it's free. RoxannaYou're UniqueJust like everyone else... ( ) pragmatic language help? Our son is almost 6 with AS. He's struggling lately with pragmatic language issues. I don't know a lot about how to help him grow in this area. Does anyone have book, curriculum, or other resource suggestions for things we can do at home? We can't currently afford to do speach therapy and the school isn't recognizing it as an issues yet. Would love your thoughts!
