Guest guest
Miriam, thank you so much for all of the excellent insight !! Also, thank you for the author suggestion and the social story workbooks. I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of money on books :-) Further to your suggestion, what would you (and everyone else for that matter) say are the " MUST HAVE " Asperger's Books??? I *have* read the " Raising Your Spirited Child " book, and agree it was excellent. I agree that all " behavior " in children has a reason, a cause. Children don't set out with malicious intent. Which is why in kindergarten when my poor sweetie was FREAKING out the first week of school, running out of the classroom insisting he was going home, throwing chairs, etc... I demanded the school find supports for us as my baby was SCREAMING for help in the only way he knew how. It is inspiring to read about your son and how well he's doing with his aggression now. I have literally been fighting for help for since he was a small boy, and I too am used to play " helicopter Mom " . My family doesn't understand, and has NEVER been supportive (or even TRIED to understand), and that made a move across the country from them a little easier, as sad as that sounds. Here? My husbands grandmother has proven to be an EXCELLENT place for to hang out when we need to run some errands for an hour or so. Why?? Because they can snuggle under a blanket on the couch, watch Wheel of Fortune, and do word searches together. When she cooks for him, he eats it all and helps clean up. She is his FAVORITE person to hang out with, besides us! HAHA So cute :-) Anyway, I appreciate your ramblings because, as I can see, I tend to go on and on, too ;-) " ON AND ON " .... I need that myself sometimes !!! Btw, I too cannot STAND when the sheets are wrinkly, and have been known to jump out of bed, turn on the lights (whereby scaring the pants off my husband lol) and REMAKE the entire bed right there, just so I can go to sleep :-) hehe Thanks again for all the insight !! I TRULY appreciate it, and it's good to know that my instincts seem to be correct !!! =) ( ) Re: Am I on the right track?
