Guest guest
I am currently living in a great town with great schools, but the cost is really starting to hurt us. My husband lost his job about a month ago, and its getting to be really hard financially. Anyhow we have the option to move somewhere that will give us more room, and for alot less then we pay now. The issue is the schools aren't as good as the one my children go to now. All 3 are on IEP's, and I'm not sure if that will help to make sure they get the care they need in a new school. My kids are very smart, but the Aspergers is the problem. 2 of my 3 children have AS, and my daughter has severe anxiety issues related to it. I know what i need to do in order to keep my family afloat financially, but I worry about my kids getting " lost " in the system. How can I insure that they get the treatment they need? I know the school has to accept the IEP as written, or they will have to send them to a school that can. Thats atleast how it goes here in massachusetts. I'm just really needing some advice. Thank you in advance:-)
Guest guest
I think you can help assure that they get the help they need by becoming a good advocate for them, learning the federal laws and state laws. Contact your local parent/information training center and ask around about schools in the area you are looking at. Or, find a local autism group that you can contact and ask questions about the schools. RoxannaYou're UniqueJust like everyone else... ( ) Moving to a not so great school system possibly.
