Guest guest
The CDC recommends the 2nd dose of MMR and the 5th dose of DTAP be given between the ages of 4 and 6 years old. Sometimes the school will require that they all be given by the start of kindergarden (or else you have to do the waiver thing). It is not uncommon for pediatricians to go with a schedule that is not exactly the same as the CDC. So I don't think it really matters if you do it this year or the next if he is not going to school. I just went with what the doctor recommended. I am curious, why are you concerned? Vickie > > > Hi all, > > > Its been awhile since I have posted anything. But I dont want him to have the 3 in one(like Pedarix). I was just wondering what you all have done in the past with your children. When you ask the nurse or doctor any questions, they just give you a standard answer. He wont be starting kindergarten so that shouldnt be an issue. > > Has anyone delayed these and had their child on a catch up schedule? > Please share, thanks and God Bless. > > & nbsp; >
Guest guest
My son is 9, if I could do it again, I would do them 1 at a time and hold off as long as possible. Guest guest
I understand. I was curious because I didn't know if your concern was because of your sons reaction to the shots. My son always freaks out about getting shots. My approach with this reaction is to just get it over with and do it all at once. With your situation I don't see any reason why you need to rush it if you are uncomfortable. Usually it is more an issue with regard to school since they have to have certain imunizations by a certain time in school or you have to go through the waiver process. I personally would not want to put it off to the point where I would have to do a catch up schedule as I think this would be harder for my son both emotionally or physically but since your son is only 4 I don't see a problem with waiting. You are just at the bottom edge of the recomended schedule. You could certainly do one vaccine at a time over the next couple of years as long as you don't run into any problems with the school. Guest guest
Nothing has been proven about shots "causing" problems in any children. Before many of these shots were commonly given austism STILL emerged at the same time in the children's lives. Look beyond the commonly publsihed info and actually make informed opinons based on more then media reports, most of which are total BS! Date: Monday, May 18, 2009, 5:32 PM I have just read so many families stories on how these immu has affected their children, in a negative way. I know all of this is suppossed to help him but it can be harmful too. I just dont think their little systems can handle three shots in one day. I think McCarthy has brought up lots of good questions about this subject. Thank you for your input, I appreciate it. & nbsp; From: Vickie Boehnlein <baneline1msn (DOT) com> Sent: Monday, May 18, 2009 4:13:20 PMSubject: ( ) Re: wondering on everyones experience? Guest guest
If you prefer to space them out, then just ask the doc to do that. Roxanna Autism Happens ( ) Re: wondering on everyones experience?
