Guest guest
It is Neuropsycholoy - Usually can be found at Childrens Hospitals in the Behavioral Medicine or Psychiatry Department. I'm sure there are other places you can go to find neuropsychological testing but if you want to use insurance than Childrens Hospitals are a more likely option than a private clinic. Guest guest
An idea of where to start: http://www.texaschildrens.org/carecenters/neuro/neurology/default.aspx it appears they have their Neuropsycologists listed under the neurology department but they also have a Psychiatry/Psycology department at this hospital. Guest guest
A neuropsych consult will help you understand where his difficulties lie, and also show if he has any learning disabilities. Many Aspies have co-occuring LDs, in areas such as Written Expression, Math, Reading, etc. You would also find out what his Processing Speed is, which will explain quite a bit to you. Most Aspies have a slower-than-usual processing speed. All this information will help you ask for accomodations and services for your son when working with an IEP team. This may not be important now, but it may very well be in the future as the school work becomes more difficult. I see others on here getting them... >
