Guest guest
Oh great thanks for doing this for our population. You are an angel for our kids. > I am a student and am doing a project for my Speech and Hearing Science class. I am very interested in focusing on Aspergers and furthering my research into this field of study. Would anyone be able to answer one or all of the following questions to help me better understand Aspergers through those who perhaps know the most about it which is the caregivers of those diagnosed. I would greatly appreciate any feedback! Thank you so much! > > 1. What problems has Aspergers caused for your child? Michele Winner has a website she is a speech specialist on social cognition. This kids don't get how others thik they have to be taught. > 2. What are the challenges your family has faced in dealing with Aspergers? The biggest challege is fighting for school services. Our speec evaluation said my daughter was superior in social skills ...what ??? You have to use the right tests these kids have lots of knowledge but don't use it. They need services infused in school. > 3. Has your child recieved any speech/hearing services? No > 4. What was the most (if any) helpful service you used to help your child/you deal with Aspergers? > school advocacy I mean it having the school setting right is the most important treatment. They need a structured safe supportive environmet and rarely get it. understanding there cognitive strenghts and weaknesses (slow processing) social skills is so vague it can mean anything. Micehele Winner understands how to teach social skills and how to address there learning style. Thanks for trying to help our kids.
