Guest guest
I just read a book called " Elijah's Cup " about one family's journey into AS and HFA. Sorry, I don't remember the author's name. I got it from our library. It described everything as Elijah faced it, in everyday language, with only a few professional explanations. I recommended it to my family because I saw alot of my son in it. Ginger > > Hello, > I am searching for any books or pubs on HFA or AS. I need things that will clearly describe it to those who only think of classical autism and insist my son does not have autism, like both his grandmas who we are visiting both this weekend and I am not looking forward to having to try to explain every little thing all over again. Two days in a row. > None of the ASD books I have, or even 2 of the AS ones I have will work. They all go into great detail on the classic symptoms with little blurbs about how some people will be milder than others. They will not see my son in the descriptions, etc. > Believe me, I have tried to explain things to them over and over again. It is not sinking in. Kinda like dealing with the schools They like to insinuate that his delays are my fault and I am making excuses. > Even just a freebie pamplet off a website or something would be ok, please direct me to anything that can help. > > Thanks! >
Guest guest
Hi I like the Mass General's Hospital web page on Asperger Syndrome. Tell me if you like it. Lots of good info. Guest guest
Oh and there is a lot more on that page about As and interventions too so look around the site. It is so concise. Guest guest
This is a great resource. You can purchase a bound copy or print your own (there are lots of pages). I bought a copy and gave it to my son's IEP team when he entered the 9th grade. They found it very helpful. Pam Welcome to Unlocking the Puzzle! Two days in a row. I had great results with _a Parent's Guide to Asperger Syndrome and high Functioning Autism_. My mom apologized to me after reading it.
