Guest guest
Thanks . I guess I want to know if it would be a good fit for DS, 24. He just finished up a year at JobCorps, living in a dorm and most of the time getting along with dorm mates. He is very much a volunteer type personality. His culinary arts instructor said that he was always the first to jump in to help out, so that is in his personality. He loves being around people, that's one of the thing's he's liked at JobCorps. On the other hand, he's immature socially in a lot of ways and naive. The biggest social problem he had at JobCorps was kids wanting his money in exchange for " friendship. " The great thing about JobCorps is that he was in a somewhat supervised environment for a year, learning how to make a lot of decisions on his own, learning how to live on his own. And I would like to find a situation where he could continue this type thing for at least one more year. He is not ready to live in an apt. by himself. He just doesn't have the self-discipline to do it yet. Is there a part of AmericaCorps that you think might fit for him? I am having a hard time figuring out the three different programs. Which one did you do and what did you do? What was your typical day like, how much supervision? What did you do in free time? What was the worst thing about it and the best! There, sorry if I have inundated you with questions! I appreciate your input so much! Sue in TN > > I did Americorps but it's been over 10 years now.
