Guest guest
Do a search for Mellisa and Doug's products. They have a lot of calender type stuff that has magnets for special days, chore charts, lots of neat stuff. We use them for a lot of stuff with Tristan. hguarino <heidi.guarino@...> wrote: My husband and I have heard and read a lot about the usefulness of having an activity board or visual calendar up for our son, Owen (4.5 years old). He really appreciates knowing what's coming each day, and having something in his room or on the refrigerator that he can refer to and understand might be a big help. Does anyone have any suggestions for what we should look for and where we can get it? Thanks. Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
We actually picked up this really neat calendar, hand made out of wood, and it has all little magnetic wood "stickies", with the years, months, days, so each month you change it to reflect the correct month. It also had round wood "stickies" with all types of holidays, activies, school stuff, outing activities, sports, etc. with both picture and wording. I made up my own out of paper and tape for whatever activity wasn't listed. We have done this for years now. It is in the LR and my son refers to it daily. It was actually a birthday gift, well before I even had any diagnosis - I just realized then that he did better "knowing" what was coming. We've even added our own "Mom & Son Fun day" as a reward for "point system" challenges. We purchased it from a Ben lin Variety/Drup Store (which has since gone out of business). Good Luck. (You could possibly make something up on the computer also and print it out on a monthly basis).
