Hi, I used to post to this list, but haven't in about a year. I was talking to Rose and she suggested I post here about a problem I'm having.

I have not managed to solve my housing problem in the last year. If you will remember I was having som,e problems with that when I posted last summer. Since that time I have lived in about 10 places , several different apartments and two roomshares, trying to find something that will work for me. I have been shuttled back and forth to my parents' houses in Montana and Maine. They are getting sick of me and my problems and my mom is getting ready to kick me back to my dad's as she can't deal.

My problem is I have a chemical sensitivity (in addition to Asperger's). This means I am super sensitive to perfume, air fresheneer, scented lotions, harsh cleaning products, etc etc etc. Someone who was already living a very natural lifestyle would not find this a hard thing to accomodate, but unfortunately my parents are a little too attached to their chemical cleaners. When I try to find an apartment I seem to react to something the floor was finished with, or new paint, or something a previous tenant used, or pesticides in the apt.

My third one made me really sick, that I lived in last October. It is a challenging disability to be sure. I am on disability, cannot work, cannot go a lot of places, but try to spend a lot of time outside and make the best of it.

My, or Rose's, idea was to ask if someone here needed some help with childcare in exchange for a room for rent or inlaw apt. I have written and spoken extensively about Asperger's at conferences and in newspapers, magazines and other publications. I know quite a bit about it so maybe be able to be a help to you and your kids because of this understanding. I am willing to move just about anywhere for the right situation, but preferably in a northern climate. I would need whoever I lived with to be OK with not using chemical products, however. But since so many kids with AS have senstivities to these things already, I shouldn't think that would be too hard.

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas for me, please let me know. Or if they know anyone else who wants a roommate and could accomodate these needs.

Thanks

Kate
