You can make a cutout from a piece of cardboard or paper and he can move that along as he reads to help him stay focused on where he is at. How old is he? Have they done any testing with him at school?

Does anyone know if there is some type of aid which prompts a

child on reading fluently? I am thinking about something that

will aid the child in reading at a proper pace and keep him or

her from getting distracted easily. My son tends to get distracted

way too easily by the other words on the page or pictures. I was

thinking of something like a dot of light which will keep him on

task. Follow the bouncing ball type of thing. He is an excellent

reader once he is on task, but when distracted he is all over the

place. Anybody ever see anything like that?

Also, on the matter of reading, has anybody ever noticed if there

child reads aloud better if they have some type of rhythm beat going

in the background, like a metronome? My son tends to stay focused if

I tap on the table a steady beat. It seems to keep him on "pace"

better.
