There was very interesting special on PBS last night dealing with

AcGG which apparently are Corpus Callosum Disorders. Please don't

ask me to explain, I don't quite understand. But basically it was

about this young man whose left and right sides of brain were not

wired together. An actual physical anomly they could see. It

produced symptoms such as:

Delays in attaining developmental milestones

Clumsiness and poor motor coordination,

Atypical sensitivity to particular sensory cues, a high tolerance to

pain.

Difficulties on multidimensional tasks, such as using language in

social situations

Challenges with social interactions due to difficulty imagining

potential consequences of behavior, being insensitive to the

thoughts and feelings of others, and misunderstanding social cues

(for example, being vulnerable to suggestion, gullible, and not

recognizing emotions communicated by tone of voice).

Mental and social processing problems become more apparent with age,

with problems particularly evident from junior high school into

adulthood.

Limited insight into their own behavior, social problems, and mental

challenges.

(I edited this from the website, but it is so descriptive of DS, to

a " T " .

Here is a link to website http://www.nodcc.org/characteristics.php

and here is link to researcher on program. The PBS Program is

called " Curious " but impossible to find anything on their site about

it. Link to info about program:

Maybe many of you already know this? I was dumbfounded. They say

that as many as 7 in a 1,000 may have this?

Anyone have some more info would appreciate it!

Sue
