My 14 yr old son take risperdal too. I would like to know what dosis your son take. My son is for years with 0.5mg, the new neurologist do not pay to much attention at this medicine. Maybe somebody can tell me more about this medicine.

Thank you

My 7 yr old son just started Risperdol this past summer and I was the parent that swore that I would NEVER medicate my son. But I have found that symptoms can change and sometimes you really don't have a choice if you want the best for your child.

He used to be the sweetest child and so very loving and it seemed it just changed to where he had to have the last word and would argue even if I wouldn't respond. His personality changed and eventually I was wore out from the obstinance and the defiance. We tried weaning him off of it but the symptoms came right back. So now I have my sweet loving little boy back with none of the defiance.

I look at meds (now) as another form of treatment that I would not deny my son.

My 17 AS dd refuses meds. It is so hard to deal w/her moods. She is in college, trying to deal w/depression, anxiety, etc,She wants to go home every week and,as usual, she stays awake almost all night until finishing her routines, calling me and losing her temper, very similarly to other cases I see here. She is trying to adapt but I believe the right med would be helpful. She is not getting any special service now. I am waiting to see how she manages her load. She has 6 classes (full time),luckily her dorm is confortable and the girls are nice but she still stressed out due to the lack of privacy, her time alone is extremely important to her. Just out of curiosity, are any of you making a "go" of it withoutmedicating your child?I believe that we have been fairly successful thus far raising oureight-year-old daughter without drugs. My Mom, on the other hand, just sent me a note encouraging me to put my daughter on meds. Theemail irritated me a bit, as it implied she knew more about Asperger'sthan I do.Are any of you having success without meds? Do any of you get thiskind of unwanted family advice regarding the issue?Jaelynne Get more out of the Web. Learn 10 hidden secrets of Windows Live. Learn Now
