What to focus on at my middle school son's IEP?

Hi

My seventh grade Aspie son is scheduled for his IEP,

and I want to know how to approach his school about homework organization, and his

social skills group. I want and have done everything short of putting it

in writing about arranging pragmatic speech therapy for him, instead they pass

it off to some sort of PASS program. Anyone in the galena park school

district? And familiar with this program, I myself don’t feel the

PASS program to be very effective at all.

For

one thing, they have this homework sheet that he can only have one sheet a day,

but tell him to get it between classes, anyone familiar with Aspie

characteristics knows that you cannot set up a situation with parameters, for

instance go from one classroom to another by a certain time then throw in a

sidetrip, Aspie’s don’t deal with anything outside of the initial

parameters. It’s ridiculous, if just telling him to do it, is all

the help he’s going

to get

then why are these people being paid?

I know the best way to deal with these people is to be polite but firm.

My problem is remembering that, once the paper shuffling and the smiling and

nodding begins immediately prior to the time I’m supposed to be

rubberstamping their conclusions. I get so angry and

frustrated, I lose my chain of thought.
