Guest guest
Hi ~ Welcome to the group! As far as excercising goes, I feel better when I do as much as I can do. I am a former college athlete and can no longer work out like I used to; however, I go to Curves 3 times a week. The movement of my body feels good, but I can not run, ride a bike (grasping of the handlebars), and things like I used to love. Try to do what feels good to your body. I can't really answer your meds questions, although I can not function without Relafen. I am gearing myself up for functioning with out meds, though, as I hope to become pregnant this summer. Best of luck to you. Jody [Editor's Note: Exercise is good for you but you need to be careful that you don't permanently damage your joints in the process. People with PA should consider seeing a physical therapist who is familiar with arthritis to come up with an exercise regimen that is right for you. The Arthritis Foundation has exercise programs especially designed for us. They highly recommend aquatics for arthritics programs that take place in warm water pools. These courses are given at very low cost (usually $50 or less) and are available at YMCAs and similar facilities across the country. They also have a program available in many locations and on video called PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise). Some of us are more seriously inflicted than others so it is important to remember that what one person enjoys can be a joint destroyer in someone else. Check out the Arthritis Foundation's programs. I negelcted excercising, what is the effect of excercise on PA? Hi , Welcome to the group. They say exercising is good for us as long as we don't overdo it. I wanted to keep running but that was eventually ruled out due to the jarring effect. Swimming or some sort of water aerobics is usually what is suggested. I used to do deep water jogging which gave you the running movement without the jarring. So, are you not actually taking any medication for the pain you do have at the moment, ? If you feel that the pain is getting worse, maybe you should make an another appointment with the rheumy. Hope you get what you need out of the group. They are a good bunch of people............................except Kathy and Fran................you have got to watch them.................Only kidding K & F. lol Take care, [Editor's Note: , is a nice man. Guest guest
Hello all. I just wanted to make a quick introduction of myself, my name is Hobson, I am the mother of two wonderful boys on the Autism Spectrum. My oldest is 8 and was diagnosed with Apsergers almost 2 years ago and my other son turned 3 this past June and was diagnosed with HF Autism in April of this year. I live in Virginia with my boys and my husband and just recently started working a part time business with Discovery Toys. If anyone is familiar with this I would love to get some info to you about it, just send me an email and I will do so. They do have great toys for ASD children. I have lived in VA my entire life and have joined up with my local Autism Support Group. My focus here is to meet more families encountering the same experiences as myself and share some things that we have going on in our family. Thank you for allowing me to join this group. I look forward to a great relationship with all of you. Hobson from VA
